What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grossing/Histotechnologist part-time position at Accu Reference Medical Lab?
Under the general guidance of the Histology Supervisor, perform all duties of an experienced histotech.
Shift is Monday to Friday from 2 pm to 6 pm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Receive all biopsies into the histology lab
- Gross specimens
- Process specimens
- Embed specimens
- Microtomy
- Stain specimens
- Keep accurate paperwork
- Ensure proper labeling
- Assist in inventory control
- Maintenance of all instruments
- Maintenance compliance with all Quality Assurance measures
- Manage turnaround time expectations
- Assist with laboratory inspections
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
- Communicate problems or matters that need attention to the Histology Supervisor or Laboratory Director
- Ensure equipment maintenance
- Attendance at meetings
- Complete an accurate documentation of all QC, QA, instrument and safety logs
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS/BA degree in Histology or other life science (or AS degree and comparable histology training)
- 2 years of related Histology experience
- ASCP board-certified as a histotechnologist is preferred, but not required
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
