Job Summary:
The Hematology Supervisor is accountable for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all laboratory services provided by the specialty department section under their direct control. They are responsible for directing the supervision, training, and development of section personnel, planning and scheduling activities, and applying laboratory policies and procedures effectively.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervises the overall operation in assigned clinical departments, encompassing planning, organizing, coordinating, evaluating, and performing tests that require special scientific skills. The incumbent must adhere to quality programs and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing day-to-day supervision and oversight of laboratory operations and personnel performing testing and reporting results
- Attending laboratory management meetings and communicating pertinent information to employees
- Informing the Director of problems related to test procedures and reporting complaints about test results and turnaround times
- Ensuring technical personnel respond to client inquiries or direct them to a competent authority when necessary
- Performing duties of technologists during absences or peak workloads
- Monitoring equipment use, reagents, supplies, and inventory levels to maintain adequate stock and prevent disruptions
- Preparing work schedules, assigning tasks, and prioritizing work to ensure adequate coverage at all times
Requirements:
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet one of the following academic or experience criteria:
- Holding a Master's Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field, with at least four years of relevant work experience
- Having a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field, with at least six years of relevant work experience
- Demonstrating two to three years of successful supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in a laboratory setting
- Having previous experience with a Laboratory Information System (LIS)
