Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and planning of interior spaces, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, building codes, and NASA-specific requirements.
- Develop and present space plans, furniture layouts, finish selections, and color schemes that enhance functionality and visual appeal.
- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and design documents using industry-standard software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate existing conditions and recommend design solutions.
- Assist in the selection and procurement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), ensuring quality, durability, and compliance with project requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to integrate interior design elements into overall project plans.
- Ensure that designs meet sustainability and accessibility standards, including LEED certification and ADA compliance.
- Provide input on cost estimates and budget planning for interior design elements.
- Review and approve submittals, material samples, and shop drawings from vendors and contractors.
- Support the project team in construction administration, punch lists, and final inspections to verify compliance with design intent.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field from a CIDA- or NAAB-accredited program.
- 0-5 years of experience in interior design, space planning, or architectural design (internship experience is a plus).
- Experience working on government, commercial, or institutional projects is preferred.
- Knowledge of International Building Code (IBC), ADA, and sustainable design practices.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- NCIDQ certification (or intent to obtain) is a plus.
- Strong ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate design concepts effectively.
- Must be eligible to work on government contracts and able to obtain security clearance if required.
