ACDS, Inc. provides lifetime resources and services of exceptional quality for children and adults with Down syndrome, Autism and other developmental disabilities.
The ACDS Westchester branch, located in Scarsdale, currently provides preschool special education programs consisting of 8:1:2 and 12:1:2 classes. ACDS Westchester is seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Principal to assist in the direction and coordination of special education programs for students with disabilities served by ACDS according to the agency’s mission by performing the following duties. Possesses and maintains qualities of leadership, advocacy and professionalism to set the standard and further the goals of the agency.
‣‣‣Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Facilitates educational planning and evaluates special education programs to ensure that objectives and goals for student education are met.
· Sets educational standards for staff. Determines pedagogic approach to curriculum and teaching.
· Responsible for evaluation of all educational school personnel.
· Coordinates data collection and analysis as required in collaboration with other management staff.
· Remains abreast concerning all educational, legislative and county statutes, including mandates and interpret laws, rules, and regulations to parents, and staff.
· Adheres to best practices in compliance with Local County, state and federal laws and regulations in conjunction with the agency's mission statement.
· Participates in the planning and implementation of new educational programs and services.
· Ensures that staff is informed of the most current information and trends in special education and related fields of study.
· Promotes and ensures staff development through the supervision of educational staff at weekly teacher’s meeting.
· Responsible, with HR Director, for interviews and hiring of school personnel including review of documentation ensuring appropriate licensure.
· Attend training and professional development conferences in adherence with licensure requirements.
· Ensures appropriate confidentiality.

Education/Experience and Skills:
- Master's (Required) in Special Education or a related field
- NYS Certification – School Building Leader
- Experience working in a 4410 school
- Experience working with children with behavioral difficulties is a plus
- Bilingual is a plus
