Position Summary:
We are looking for an exceptional Intervention Tutor to join our team! With 56% of our students classified as English-Learners, our Interventionists are critical to achieving our mission. As an Intervention Tutor & Teacher’s Assistant you will work to provide support but work closely with students who are English Language Learners. You will support in the classroom, small groups and/or individual student settings. You are insatiably curious about how to motivate students to engage in learning through community building and rigorous, standards-aligned instruction. You support by integrating strategies for English Learners and students with disabilities seamlessly into your work. Above all, you are a patient optimist - you believe that every student is capable of graduating from college.
This role reports to the school principal.
Responsibilities:
- Assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing math, reading, writing and literacy instruction to identified individual or small groups of students
- Assist students in completing classroom assignments, homework and projects in various subject areas
- Ensure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures
- Assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance;
- Confer with the Teacher and Learning Specialists concerning lesson plans and materials to meet student needs.
- Assist with campus and classroom supervision and oversee student drills, practices and assignments in various subjects.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and provide routine clerical support, including typing, copying and filing instructional materials;
- Prepare and maintain trackers and various student records.
- Explain and ensure student understanding of classroom assignment and homework instructions, including explaining concepts as necessary;
- Assist students with meeting individual education goals and objectives; report progress regarding student performance and behavior.
- Assist in behavior management of students in the classroom according to school expectations; monitor and interact with students during breaks and passing period, outdoor, and other recreational activities as assigned.
- Support with grading student tests and assignments as assigned; maintain records and student files related to progress, behavior and assigned activities.
- Assists students with improving fluency in English, writing stories and summaries of books; assisting students with punctuation, grammar and spelling.
- Ensure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and procedures; maintain learning environment in a safe, orderly and clean manner;
- Provide classroom support by setting up work areas and displays and distributing and collecting paper, supplies and materials.
- Operate a variety of office and classroom equipment including a copier, printer, laminator, computer and assigned software.
- Communicate with teachers, staff, administrators and others to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Attend meetings and in-services for classroom programs as assigned.
- Comply with mandated reporting requirements.

- Collaborate with ACE Learning Specialists to support a full-inclusion model of Special Education to the greatest extent possible.
- Create a warm yet firm classroom culture through consistent implementation of behavior ladders.

Education & Experience
Minimum qualifications
- High School Diploma or Associates is required, Bachelor's Degrees are preferred.
- Your ability to speak and write in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- You have at least one year of experience in working with students in an educational setting
- You are a mission-driven individual who has experience working with diverse student populations, including English language learners and students with disabilities.
- You have experience using Google applications (Docs, Sheets, Hangouts, etc), as well as Google Classroom and/or other distance learning platforms.
Salary and Benefits
- This is an hourly position, starting at $20.00/hour
