Stabilus is a global leader in the production of gas springs and dampers on five continents. This position will be located at ACE Controls, Inc., a Stabilus company, located in Farmington Hills, MI. ACE is the internationally recognized expert in the field of industrial damping technology. The company’s portfolio now includes automation control, motion control, vibration control and safety products.

Job Summary:

The Buyer will purchase and expedite component parts from outside vendors to support final assembly operations. Troubleshoot parts shortages and take corrective action to fix root cause problems. Work to identify lead-time reduction opportunities, and to improve overall vendor quality. Review vendor performance to achieve optimal price, quality, delivery, and inventory position. Calculate optimum Kanban sizes for new component parts and continuously improve the Kanban process leading to better on-time delivery, parts availability, and improved productivity. Identify and eliminate excess and obsolete materials. Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy. Purchase MRO products.

Essential Job Functions:

• Receives incoming customer releases and generates production schedules to meet customer demands.
• Rough cut capacity planning, set production rates, number of operators and other resource requirements.
• Monitors production schedules, on time delivery performance and makes changes to the production schedule to optimize material, labor, and machinery.
• Negotiates the purchase of raw material to ensure the company’s product is produced at the lowest cost per commodity.
• Reviews, approves, and purchases necessary perishable tools, shop supplies and other MRO materials to permit the smooth efficient operation of the facility.
• Implement and direct a Cost Reduction Program to reduce MRO and raw material costs.
• Actively participate and perform daily activities conforming to ISO 9000 standards and provide input to Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Collecting, interpreting, and analyzing data on inventory levels, supplier performance, shipping costs, and other relevant metrics to identify trends and potential issues.
• Predicting future customer demand to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained.
• Identifying opportunities to reduce costs within the supply chain, such as negotiating better prices with suppliers or optimizing shipping routes.

Education, Training, Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred – business, or related discipline

Experience:

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in analyzing data relating to supply chain, planning or forecasting in a manufacturing environment
• QAD experience a plus.
• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Understanding of MRP logic, scheduling and order policies, bill of material structure and multi-plant planning and inventory management
• Experience with Indirect Materials (MRO) a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities and detail oriented
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact and influence members of other functional areas
• Strong Microsoft Office knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Working Conditions:

• Normal office environment
• Relativity clean, Climate controlled Manufacturing facility that has an internal machine shop, assembly line and assembly cells. That utilized different types of oils, greases and coolants throughout most of the processes.

Accountability:

• Responsible to follow all ACE Controls, Inc. procedures and technical guidelines as well as adhere to customer requirements.
