JOB DESCRIPTION- NON CDL DELIVERY PROFESSIONAL
The primary function of this position includes but is not limited to drive a truck and manually unload, using a hand truck and/or electric pallet jack, various products (meats, produce, frozen foods, groceries, dry goods, equipment, and supplies) to customers while providing excellent customer service. All functions must be completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Duties Include
Perform all pre-trip responsibilities including obtaining and reviewing driver manifest, completing required trailer temperature checks, and performing pre-trip safety check inspections of trucks and trailers according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Drive to and deliver customer orders to meet the scheduled customer times and maintain adequate productivity rate to meet delivery windows. Use POD scanner to log arrival and departure time from customer site.
Consistently monitor refrigeration system on truck for safety; follow all safe food handling procedures
Visually survey customer's site during the approach to determine hazards.
Unload products from the trailer using a liftgate, an electric pallet jack, a hand truck or by hand and place items in designated customer storage areas
Verify delivery of correct items with customer using POD scanner and obtain proper signatures. Collect money (cash or checks) where required. Contact division management for authorization of invoice discrepancies and communicate all errors and returns.
Return truck to Ace Endico when route is completed.
Perform all post-trip responsibilities: unloading damaged goods and customer returns and completing necessary paperwork; performing safety inspections on the truck/trailer; parking and securing the truck/trailer; securing the hand truck and electric pallet jack; completing DOT logs (electronic or manual as required) and company vehicle maintenance reports (DVIR) and reconcile these with the appropriate company representative as required.
Attend all required company meetings and adhere to all safety practices and company policies
Scheduled Hours: Monday through Friday (5:00am to Until Job Finished)
Hourly Rate: $20.00/hourly
Qualifications
Requirements Education/Training
Must possess a valid Driver’s License issued by the state of legal residence
Must be able to read, write and communicate in the English language as it relates to the job and safety requirements-able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records
Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and ability to work with money collected from customers to ensure the amount collected matches the invoiced amount Job Knowledge and Skills
Must be able to work the assigned schedule including various early morning start times, 10+ hour shifts, overtime, Saturdays, and holidays.
Must be able to use, or learn to use, all equipment and tools used to perform the job.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must adhere to all safety practices and company policies.
No more than two convictions in the past two-year period for traffic violations. No more than one of these may be a serious (as defined by DOT) violation or result of an accident - company or private vehicle; No DUI convictions within past three years, regardless of type of vehicle operated; no driver's license suspension within past three years (insurance and overweight tickets are excluded); and no termination by previous employer for failure to comply with safety regulations or for accident involvement for the past three years.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts and extreme/inclement weather conditions. Temperatures range from below zero to 95°F or above outdoors. Employees are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Requirements
Frequently lifts, pushes, or moves products that weighs 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds, using safe lifting
practices
Frequently reaches up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets and hand cart
Constantly bends and twists while loading and unloading product and retrieving items from trailer
Able to work in extreme/inclement weather conditions with frequent stops (10+ hour shift) required
At times, transport product down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions
