The Director of Group Sales is responsible for prospecting and closing Group Corporate business in both domestic and international markets while increasing market share for Ace New York, this includes conducting customer sales calls and presentations, preparing and executing action plans, negotiating rates to increase and maintain a solid customer base, and any other duties assigned by the DOSM.

 

CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Manage all related accounts within your responsibility. 
  2. Maintain client relationships, independently solicit and book business.
  3. Exceed Team Revenue Goals set by the Director of Sales and Marketing.
  4. Solicit, qualify and recommend prospective group/corporate business to increase market share. 
  5. Analyze historical and other statistical information (market segment, account mix goals, GRC) to penetrate your given market segment. 
  6. Conduct customer sales calls, interviews and ongoing account assessments to maximize revenue growth.
  7. Develop the existing customer base, increase production and revenues while harnessing key account relationships.
  8. Solicit all corporate and group business directly and jointly with other salespeople through the preparation and execution of sales strategies. Execute key sales trips to your given market segments, and go above and beyond to get the job done.
  9. Within established parameters, quote and negotiate rates with customers, follow up on Inquiries, Proposals and Contracts, RFP’s within the property guidelines.
  10. Conduct creative site inspections for potential customers, entertain, facilitate FAM trips, plan and execute sales trips and assume the responsibility as the direct sales contact within your markets.
  11. Respond to inquiries and RFPs within 24 hours.
  12. Maintain a high level of knowledge of the competition’s products and services.
  13. Daily update of files in Delphi.
  14. Achieve or exceed assigned quarterly financial goals in rooms, event food & beverage and space rentals.
  15. Maintain a strong liaison between reservations, revenue management.
  16. Maintain a strong liaison between sales and operations to ensure all VIPs are managed accordingly.
  17. Upon closing group business, coordinate and follow up with other hotel departments to ensure delivery of superior guest service - Group Resumes.
  18. Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required by DOSM.
  19. As directed, participate in trade shows, conventions and promotional events within the hotel, the industry and customer organizations.
  20. Provide feedback to the Director of Sales and Marketing on changing conditions including trends in the competition, as a result of direct solicitation in your market areas.

 

SUPPORTING FUNCTIONS

In addition to the core focus & responsibilities, the candidate is expected to complete the following duties:

  1. Work closely and effectively with all hotel team members.
  2. Communication back to Area DOSM.
  3. Be on property as needed while events are being executed to ensure client needs and requests are adhered to.

  7. Technologically sound with Google Workspace applications.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Four year college degree preferred. Minimum two years in sales capacity in a comparable hotel/resort. Expertise gained working in a service and quality centric environment is preferred and considered an asset. Knowledge of Newmarket Delphi software and Hotel Intelligence software preferred.

LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL, and REASONING ABILITIES

Candidate must meet the following cognitive abilities:

  1. Ability to understand service needs & requests.
  2. Ability to acknowledge requests in a polite manner.
  3. Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written English (additional foreign languages are encouraged and preferred).
  4. Ability to apply logical thinking and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.
  5. Ability to address and solve problems involving guest and operational issues.
  6. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   1. Sit, walk, and stand continuously.
  2. Lift / carry 10lbs/4.5kg (frequently) and 25lbs/12kg (occasionally)
  3. Bend, squat, crawl, and reach above shoulder level.
  4. Use dominant hand coordination for simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.
  5. May be exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, dampness, height, and moving machinery.

Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
