Project Engineer
Project Engineer Responsibilities:
Project Planner Duties:
-
- Understand all aspects of the part or project requirements and specifications.
- Collaborate with the customers on tolerance, manufacturability, and advise on any changes required to meet their specifications.
- Understanding of fabrication techniques to plan projects to specification, ensuring the required quality of the customer’s parts is met.
- Collaborate with the Production team members to find the best process and procedures to fabricate parts.
- Utilize our M1 ERP system, customer prints, visual work instructions, and other communication tools to route and communicate project requirements.
- Communicate customer requirements and expectations to our suppliers and Production team members.
- Coordinate with the Purchasing Team and Production Leaders on the material, machining, and any outside service required for the project or part.
- Balance customer demand with ACE’s capacity at the time of order.
- Understand and utilize the Project Management Process system for opportunities that fit the criteria. This applies at estimation to reduce risk, in job planning to optimize workflow and project close to record and share learnings.
- Project Manager/Account Manager Duties: Removed Customer service
- Main point of contact for assigned customers.
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with our customer’s engineering, purchasing, and other key team members.
- Provide technical support for our customers and become experts in their business so they can trust and value ACE for guidance and assistance when fabricating to their specifications.
- Review customer orders and verify that ACE can meet the terms of the purchase order. If not, negotiate acceptable terms to fulfill the requirements.
o Inform and collaborate with the Sales Team and appropriate ACE Team members to resolve customer issues that need to be addressed
o Ensure the project is going as planned and adjust as required to streamline the process improving our gross margin and quality.
o Work closely with Production team to provide guidance and technical assistance during the fabrication process.
3. Estimator Duties:

- Target the appropriate business to meet our company revenue and gross margin goals.
- Understand our customer requirements and verify that ACE can meet the terms of the quote request. If not, offer options that ACE can provide or no quote the opportunity.
- Provide quotes and proposals on-time for our customer’s requirements.
- Collaborate with purchasing and suppliers to get the best pricing and delivery while also ensuring high quality.
- Prepare labor and material studies to accurately determine our internal cost.
- Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to determine the margin goal and, closing strategy to win the business. Offer value added options when applicable.
- Project Quality Assurance Duties:
- Follow up with our Production teams to minimize waste and keep the projects flowing.
- Collaborate with Production leaders, QC and the shopfloor on changes to the procedure to ensure that it improves the standard process. Document this process as required.
- Work directly with fabricators on the shop floor to ensure the efficiency of the process and the quality of the final product.
- Resolve questions and problems both internally and with the customer as they arise to keep the project on track and in tolerance.
- Review internal Kickbacks and Customer Returns as they occur for; Process Improvements, Preventative Action, use of GD&T and Critical Dimension.
Qualifications:
· BS in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Advanced CAD or 5 years metal fabrication engineering experience
· Microsoft Word and excel
· Excellent communication skills
· Extensive fabrication print reading ability
· Understand fabrication processes and shop floor practices
· Ability to plan a fabrication process that achieves the quality level expected.
· Ability to recognize when special tooling or fixtures are required
· Understand the capabilities of the fabrication equipment and when to outsource operations
· Understand the abilities of the shop floor personnel
· Understand the costing structure and bring projects complete within budget
