Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue is looking to add a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Grant Writer, Social Media, and Shelter Manager to support our 501c-3 non-profit organization in West Hollywood.
Unfortunately, both our local office and Ace’s founder’s home were destroyed and we lost EVERYTHING in the horrible Pacific Palisades Fire, but the work for the dogs cannot stop! At Ace of Hearts, we are dedicated to stepping in to rescue dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds and prevent euthanasia by finding them stable and loving homes.
To keep things transparent, we like to let candidates know that this role is a very important one that requires a big commitment to the dogs. However, it is also an incredibly rewarding opportunity to have a chance to rescue dogs who have been forgotten.
Important information about the position:
- You could realistically expect to work around 40-50 hours per week in this role
- We are looking for someone who is comfortable working weekends (off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and someone who is comfortable being on-call with a cell phone for after-hours emergencies
- This is an in-office job (NOT remote) located in West Hollywood-All of our dogs are fostered, and we don't have a dedicated shelter facility.
- You will be hands-on helping dogs find homes, but your only direct contact with the pups will be at our bi-weekly adoption events, where volunteers bring the dogs they foster.
Responsibilities:
- Calling shelters to get information on dogs, and coordinating their rescue
- Handling emergencies with adopted/fostered dogs
- Recruiting, scheduling and coordinating relationships with volunteers
- Managing social media efforts
- Grant writing
- Organizing volunteers for dog adoptions and other tasks
- Developing and coordinating adoption and outreach programs
- Overall shelter support
- Other responsibilities as needed
Requirements:
- Prior non-profit, dog rescue and/or shelter management experience strongly preferred
- MUST love dogs--all breeds and sizes--and be very comfortable walking and handling them as you will be the on-site volunteer coordinator at our bi-monthly adoption events
- Must have non-profit grant writing experience
- Impeccable organizational, multi-tasking and leadership skills
- Hands-on, proactive, able to show initiative
- Excellent phone demeanor and ability to handle multiple callers at once
- Strong computer skills, especially Excel and Google docs/calendar
- Good knowledge of social media for outreach and communication
- Must have continual access to a cell phone, laptop computer and reliable transportation
- Ability to work long hours when needed, one weekend day each week, and holidays
- Must live locally
Compensation:
- $65,000-$75,000 per year dependent on experience
