Job Summary: The Autonomous Specialist is responsible for operating and assessing a self-driving vehicle in autonomous mode, including but not limited to collecting data, providing feedback to the appropriate teams and offering any type of ride hailing services. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a high standard of safety both within and outside the vehicle.
- Demonstrate situational awareness and adaptability to environmental changes.
- Communicate courteously with management, engineers, and the public, serving as a liaison for technology.
- Operate vehicles alone or with a co-driver, adhering to assigned schedules.
- Respond promptly to changing and potentially high-pressure situations.
- Work independently or in small groups, operating vehicles for 6-8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
- Monitor multiple software systems with continuous focus.
- Provide clear verbal and written feedback on vehicle operations.
- Operate vehicles on various surfaces in closed-course facilities.
- Complete daily reports and document procedures and tests.
- Interact professionally with the public and educate them on self-driving technology as and when required.
- Operate vehicles on defined and undefined routes, in diverse environmental conditions.
- Manage inventory and assets such as laptop, work phone, disks etc
Required Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of driving experience on public roads.
- High School Diploma or GED required; a four-year degree in a related field preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Proficiency in parallel parking.
- Familiarity with laptop computers and GSuite apps.
- Proficiency in using touchscreen smartphones.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to articulate thoughts concisely.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple technologies simultaneously.
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Self-motivated and good judgment in fast-paced, high-stress environments.
