Position Overview
The Director of Culture and Data Integrity is a strategic leader
who works to create and enhance a culture of achievement and respect where high
expectations and results are the norm. Strong school
environments are essential for our students’ academic and long-term success. This
person will work collaboratively with school leaders and central office staff
to develop a network-wide approach to strengthen school culture, including, but
not limited to, researching and implementing best practices in social-emotional
learning, restorative practices, and building a culture of
achievement and respect with families, students and school/network staff.
Core Responsibilities
School Discipline
- Collaborate with school leadership teams and provide leadership to the schools’ Deans and other staff assigned to create and manage a safe and restorative learning environment.
- Design and implement systematic approach to managing and intervening on student discipline issues based on the Acero Student Handbook and Restorative Practice models.
- Evaluate implementation of Student Handbook and Restorative Practice models at school levels.
- Work collaboratively with Legal Department and school Principals to ensure proper implementation, follow through, and compliance on all student disciplinary actions and incident reports.
- Assist schools in the creation of Restorative Justice and discipline data tracking systems and data analysis.
- Work with Deans and assigned staff to organize and support school staff and administration in coordinating strategic Restorative Justice, school discipline, and behavior initiatives and projects.
- Work with Deans and assigned staff to provide technical assistance to schools around building systems and structures related to student discipline and Restorative Justice.
School Culture
- Ensure that all campuses maintain >95% daily attendance and timeliness.
- Support successful implementation of school-wide attendance programs.
- Oversee the research and implementation of new school culture initiatives to strengthen and support schools network wide, including, but not limited to, the development of social-emotional learning and restorative practices.
Data Integrity
- Oversee the accurate reporting and integrity of data regarding school-wide attendance, master schedule and discipline data/records in PowerSchool, IMPACT and other CPS/ISBE data systems, including monitoring and reviewing data for integrity across various systems.
- Oversee the evaluation and effectiveness of Acero’s implementation of PowerSchool network wide.
- Evaluate and improve the master scheduling process network wide, including developing and monitoring scheduling timelines.
- Design and deliver training to administrators/scheduling teams regarding the scheduling component of PowerSchool.
- Evaluate and improve access, usage, and implementation of all PowerSchool features to monitor and implement attendance, discipline and other resources to support school culture improvement efforts.
- Implement controls and compliance metrics to reduce data issues and improve data quality.
- Assure ongoing maintenance and updating of PowerSchool software and implementation of PowerTeacher Pro.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (required), Master’s degree in related field (strongly preferred)
- 3-5 years of school management or network-level experience (strongly preferred)
- Previous experience with eSIS, PowerSchool, or other Student
Information System software
- A minimum of five years of experience working with school
scheduling with detailed knowledge and experience in development of school
master schedules for grades K-12 (strongly preferred)
- Highly knowledgeable in school compliance, school law, CPS IMPACT (strongly preferred)
- Highly knowledgeable in Tableau (preferred)
- Strong experience in writing and reviewing school policies, procedures, handbooks and all school compliance matters
- Strong technology application skills
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and
responsibilities
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering
solutions to various issues
- Ability to collaborate effectively with network personnel and
work cooperatively with diverse groups of people
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Systems-level thinker who can craft a vision for how an organization should approach student character and culture work
- Extremely adept and problem solving and critical thinking; able to formulate hypotheses, gather and synthesize data, develop and assess alternatives and build a case for recommendations
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to both build relationships and drive results across teams and with network “customers”
- Adept at project management; able to own a project plan from kick-off to close-out, driving multiple competing priorities forward
- Highly knowledgeable in the field of student character, school culture, and restorative practice
- Facility designing and implementing professional development with adult learners resulting in improved student outcomes
- Skill in program design, implementation, data analysis and evaluation
- Must hold permanent residency in the United States (required)
Physical Demands
The nature of the work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment, and the ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files. Physical demands include the ability to stand, bend, reach high and low, stoop, and walk around the classroom 60% of the day. In addition, candidates must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods of time, and walk up and down stairs several times a day.
Working Conditions
Majority of work is performed in a general office environment. Position requires availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. Also requires participation and attendance at organization-sponsored events and meetings.
