Job Description : General Laborer

Job Purpose : The General Laborer will be responsible for assisting in various paving and excavating tasks, including but not limited to pavement maintenance, utilities, road construction, excavation, and groundwork. The individual in this position will work as part of a team to ensure safe and efficient completion of projects.

Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Assist in excavation, utilities, paving and construction projects.

2. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and materials.

3. Prepare work sites by clearing debris, setting up barricades, and warning signs.

4. Operate hand tools and power tools for excavation and paving.

5. Assist in the installation and repair of drainage systems, culverts, and other underground structures.

6. Perform manual labor tasks such as shoveling, raking, and wheelbarrow operations.

7. Load and unload construction materials, equipment, and supplies.

8. Assist in the movement and placement of construction signage and traffic control devices.

9. Ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations at all times.

10. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

11. Communicate effectively with team members and follow instructions given by supervisors.

12. Take part in training programs to enhance job knowledge and skills.

13. Provide assistance to other areas of the company as needed.

Qualifications and Skills :

1. Knowledge of construction and paving equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery.

2. Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform repetitive tasks.

3. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.

4. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

5. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

6. Ability to work independently and efficiently without constant supervision.

7. Willingness to undergo background checks, as required.

Working Conditions :

The General Laborer may be required to work in varying weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow. They may spend long hours on their feet and must be able to lift heavy objects. The position may require working on weekends, nights, and holidays as necessary to meet project deadlines.
