Time Type: Part time Department: CC014290 Occupational Therapy Summary: PRN work schedule Performs occupational therapy evaluations, interventions, documentation and billing processes according to established procedures for routine and moderately complex cases. Participates in program development, education and maintenance functions of the department. Additional Information: Required Education: Master's Degree Recommended Education: Bachelor's Degree Required Work Experience: Recommended Work Experience: Required Certifications: Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR) - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT), Occupational Therapist (OT) License - Arkansas State Medical Board Recommended Certifications: Board Certification in Pediatrics - American Occupational Therapy Associate (AOTA), Certified Brian Injury Specialist - Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialist-(ACBIS) Description 1. Reviews information from all sources (chart, team report, patient evaluation, etc.) prior to initiating treatment and completes a comprehensive therapy evaluation appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patient to identify skilled therapy needs. 2. Competent knowledge of normal growth and development as appropriate to the ages of patients served, in order to obtain and interpret information for determining the patient's needs. Begins developing clinical expertise and professional skills through interaction with team members, self-study, and other continuing education activities. 3.Establishes relevant measurable goals and plan of care appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires. 4. Instructs and explains prescribed treatment to parents and/or patients. Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. 5. Competent with implementing the treatment plan using appropriate modalities, monitors and modifies the plan of care as appropriate, and documents findings of patient progress according to established polices and procedures. Seeks consultation as necessary. 6. Maintains a positive attitude while demonstrating the adaptability necessary to effectively respond to changing departmental needs. 7. Plans and organizes patient treatment and unscheduled time efficiently to meet productivity standards. Enters treatment charges in a timely manner and with minimal re-education/mentoring regarding errors. 8. Demonstrates initiative and flexibility to ensure that all patient care for the occupational therapy section is completed daily. Self-imposes standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed. 9. Participates in maintenance functions of the department. 10. Proficient knowledge, implementation of and compliance with departmental policies and procedures, specific patient treatment protocols. Passes competency reviews. 11. Communicates information and ideas clearly and concisely in a manner that is not offensive and helps others understand and retain the message; actively listens to others. 12. Collaborates and works cooperatively with others to help the team/group achieve goals, contributes, and asks for help. Serves as a mentor for observation students. 13. Takes actions to provide a positive patient experience; uses appropriate interpersonal techniques to develop relationships and resolve difficult situations. 14. Performs other duties as assigned.
