Description

Position Function :

The Residential Program Supervisor reports to the Director of Residential Services. The Residential Program Supervisor is responsible for the ongoing development, supervision, staffing, and evaluation of program services, ensuring the provision of quality services within a trauma informed care framework and compliance with best practice standards, contract requirements, and all COA and licensing standards. The Residential Program Supervisor provides on-going supervision, coaching, and support to the Team Supervisors and Youth Care Specialists and works as a part of an interdisciplinary team. The job requires sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Requirements :

Education : Bachelor's degree in human services field required. Master's degree preferred. Related experience may be substituted for required education on a basis set forth by the Department of Human Resources.

Experience :

  • 2 years' supervisory experience in a licensed residential program
  • Understanding of trauma informed care principles
  • Training and experience in Trust Based Relational Intervention preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft software and the ability to learn databases as needed

Other :

  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of establishing residency
  • Must have an acceptable driving record
  • Working Conditions :

    Working conditions include daily exposure to children and youth placed a 24-hour residential environment. This could include clients with behavioral problems, including possible physical aggression. Will also be exposed to the typical hazards of the residential environment related to household activities, cleaning agents, and food preparation. Exposure to illness and blood exists. Residential programs do not close for holidays or inclement weather. They operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. The position requires exposure to confidential information and must maintain confidentiality and follow policies related to personnel, clients, and personnel and client records. Extended walking and standing daily. Must always be physically able to use authorized crisis intervention techniques.

    Contacts :

    The position is responsible for coordination with the treatment team and contact with parents, guardians, relatives, school personnel, therapists, case managers from other agencies, psychiatrists, law enforcement officials, other external youth and adults, and other community members. The position is responsible for contact with all youth and staff of ACH Child and Family Services.

    Supervisory Responsibilities :

    The Residential Program Supervisor will oversee and monitor the work of the Team Supervisors and Youth Care Specialists. This includes all aspects of their job as well as agency related activities and responsibilities.

    Decision Making Responsibilities :

    Coordinate, approve, and / or make decisions concerning program operations, staffing situations, schedules, service provision, staff hiring, staff development, staff supervision, and client interventions.

    Key Expectations / Responsibilities :

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and effective implement of the program with application of trauma informed care framework, best practices, and in accordance with all contracts and regulatory standards (including but not limited to identifying client strengths, methods focused on genuine relationships, intervention planning while meeting the health and safety needs of each client).
  • Interview, select, support, coach, and supervise all direct care staff.
  • Schedule and maintain appropriate staff to client ratio and coverage for the program always.
  • Provide on-call support for the program and campus.
  • Professionalism (including but not limited to consistent and reliable job performance, awareness and use of professional ethics to guide practice, ability to work collaboratively with others)
  • Awareness and appreciation for cultural and human diversity (including gaining knowledge and skills to meet the needs of clients of different race, ethnicity, nationality, religion / spirituality, gender identity / expression, sexual orientation)
  • Applied human development (including but not limited to understanding the developmental needs of clients in the program)
  • Develop relationships and communicate effectively with team members, ACH staff, donors, and others involved with the program.
  • Lead and supervise staff to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies and goals to achieve positive outcomes that meet grant, contract and ACH performance standards and comply with licensing, COA, and best practice standards.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation and development / continuous programmatic improvements as needed to meet the needs of the service population.
  • Continually assess the educational / training needs of staff and seek out training opportunities that will help to address those needs.
  • Coordinate orientation for all new staff and ensure all staff achieves training needed to successfully work with clients and assist them in meeting their goals.
  • Ensure the provision of 24 / 7 / 365 on-call support for the program and staff.
  • Ensure work time is utilized effectively to maximize productivity.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by fostering engagement and retention through communication, feedback, positive performance, and recognition.
  • Actively participate in supervision and communication with assigned supervisor.
  • Maintain high ethical standards which are outlined in the ACH Child and Family Services policy and procedure manual and those that apply to individual licensure.
  • Program :

  • Provide oversight of the program's daily schedule to ensure it meets the needs of clients served, including, but not limited to, supervision ratios, family engagement, the provision of proactive teaching activities, academic instruction, life skills, social skills, physical activity, recreation, and entertainment.
  • Communicate in such a way that provides encouragement, helpful feedback, conflict resolution, and proactive decision-making.
  • Oversee program staffing patterns and scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage within required ratio and in compliance with licensing standards and COA standards.
  • Provide oversight of program budget and employee spending to ensure expenses are within approved budget.
  • Ensure facility is maintained in a manner that meets client needs and licensing standards.
  • Execute, review, and ensure that containments are implemented as trained and only for the purposes outlined in Minimum Standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all contracts, licensing and accreditation standards, and ACH policies and procedures always.
  • Complete monthly home, kitchen, and vehicle inspections and maintain a safe and clean environment that meets client needs, ACH and licensing standards.
  • Monitor storage and administration of client medications and ensure that client needs and all licensing standards are met
  • Plan, lead, and participate in collaborative staff meetings.
  • Set appropriate limits and maintain high ethical standards in service delivery, interventions, and interactions.
  • Complete trainings and certifications as required by licensing, contractual, grant and agency standards.
  • Plan and assist in providing on-going training for staff.
  • Transport children safely and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Maintain an attitude of child and family advocacy.
  • Adapt to changing assignments / priorities as needed to support the objectives of the agency.
  • Teach and support behavior interventions
  • Documentation and Reporting :

  • Review, approve, and sign all staff timesheets.
  • Complete all paperwork in a timely manner in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the treatment team to facilitate communication with parents / guardians and external contacts
  • Review and approve all Incident Reports completed by program staff.
  • Regularly review and approve program documentation to ensure quality as well as compliance with licensing, COA, contract, grant and ACH standards.
  • Oversee employee training records to ensure compliance with training requirements.
  • Assist in development of program related improvement processes and evaluation tools.
  • Community Relations :

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with CASA, TDFPS, OCOK, therapists, schools, courts, and other community partners as needed for service delivery.
  • Represent ACH in a professional and positive manner in all aspects of your position.
  • Attend designated agency or community meetings and / or trainings.
