 TITLE: MEDIA DESTRUCTION SPECIALIST

DEPARTMENT: OPERATIONS

REPORTS TO: AES MEDIA DESTRUCTION LEAD

GENERAL SUMMARY

 Under the general direction of the Media Destruction Lead, the Media Destruction Specialist is responsible for handling confidential documents, plan and coordinate logistics with Media Destruction Lead to ensure requests for pick up and deliveries, and supports the operation of document shredding, bailing machine, maintenance and assisting AES Dismantling.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Media Destruction Specialist will be responsible for operating box truck vehicle and supporting equipment including hand trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
    Standard: Daily vehicle logs and supporting equipment is maintained
  • Coordinates scheduling and servicing customer locations along the assigned route with container drop offs, swaps, and pickups.
    Standards: 100% timely pick up and deliveries
  • Responsible for transferring containers from truck, customer’s facility, and document destruction facility.
    Standards: Ensure all customer’s documents are transferred securely and safe.
  • Responsible for accurate and legible completion documentation (i.e. service tickets, delivery tickets, and customer documentation).
    Standards: 100% Compliance
  • Assist with document destruction in AES facility: bin availability, recycling of completed bales, ensure documents are shredded in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the highest degree of security, safety, and confidentiality based on contractual requirements, NAID certification, HIPAA compliance, OSHA regulations, and ACHIEVE Enterprise Services, policy and procedure.
    Standards: Zero safety violations
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by AES Media Destruction lead and Director of Operations.
    Standards: All projects are completed on time
  • Assists with shredding room operations when needed including:
    • Sort paper to recognize and remove non-paper materials, hazardous materials, etc.
    • Using arms and hands move paper along conveyor belt; safely fan the materials on the conveyor belt ensuring the materials do not produce a jam in the shredding blades.
    • Feed paper into shredding equipment safely.
    • Relocate, maneuver, and transport full and empty shredding containers.
    • Empty paper contents from boxes into shredding containers and/or onto to conveyor belt.
    • Feed bale wire and prepare material bales.
    • Assist with keeping the work areas clean and organized.
    • Assist with collecting and weighing walk-in customer materials.
    • Maintain established production metrics

WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. Supervision
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

2.Confidentiality
This position may be exposed to HIPAA and confidential client information.

3. Mental Application and Responsibility
Must have the ability to identify essential job tasks.

 4. Internal and Public Contacts
This position must be able to clearly communicate with community contacts and with the general public regarding programs and services offered.

5. Conditions and Equipment
This position entails using general office equipment including computers, telephones, fax, and photocopiers.

6. Physical Demands
Must be able to sit and/or walk and stand continually.
Must be able to lift at least fifty (50) pounds. 

ABILITIES

 1. Language (Communication)
Must have excellent communication skills both oral and written.
Must have the ability to write clearly and concisely.

2. Mathematical
Must be able to perform basic arithmetic calculations.

3. Reasoning
Excellent observational skills.

4. Other
Must have the ability to project professionalism and amiability as an Agency representative.
Must attend and become certified in CPR and First Aid within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.

 2. Experience
At least one (1) year of related working experience
Must be able to pass NAID certification background requirements

 

CERTIFICATES/LICENSURES/REGISTRATIONS

1. Valid Driver’s License
This position requires a valid Arizona Driver’s license.
Must be insurable under the Agency’s auto insurance policy.

2. Pass background check inclusive of Excluded Provider List System (EPLS) and the Health and Human Services (HHS) List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

OSHA

Everyone has the right to a safe workplace. The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 was passed to prevent workers from being seriously harmed at work or killed at work, and the law requires employers to provide their employees with working conditions that are free of known dangers.  The Act created the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which sets and enforces protective workplace safety and health standards which are maintained by the Agency.  OSHA also provides information, training and assistance to workers and employers.  Workers may file a complaint to have OSHA inspect their workplace if they believe that the Agency is not following OSHA standards or that there are serious hazards in the workplace.  An injured worker may undergo a drug screening.
