What are the responsibilities and job description for the Therapeutic Horsemanship Intern position at Achievement Centers for Children?
The Achievement Centers for Childrens Therapeutic Horsemanship Program located at Camp Cheerful has openings for paid Interns for the Summer 2025 camp season!
Responsibilities include:
- Teach safe, educational & fun equine assisted activities for campers
- Create and implement horse related art & craft projects
- Interact with individuals with special needs to provide a positive experience
- Interact and work with volunteers of all ages
- Sidewalk in Adapted Riding classes
- Lead horses in Adapted Riding classes
- Assist PATH Certified Instructors with classes
- Provide daily care of assigned horses including feed, water, grooming and wellness checks
- Bring horses in and out of pastures
- Clean pastures and facilities as assigned
Interns will gain experience working with horses in addition to working with individuals with physical, emotional and developmental disabilities through equine assisted activities and lessons. This is a paid internship that takes place at Camp Cheerful 15000 Cheerful Lane, Strongsville, OH 44136. This is a 20-25 hour per week commitment and runs June 2 - August 15 2025. Experience with horses and/or individuals with special needs preferred. Camp Cheerful is a PATH International Premier Accredited Center and EAGALA member.
