Position Summary: Amistad High School is seeking a dedicated and inspiring History Teacher to join our team in New Haven, CT. Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Excellence:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive and engaging History curriculum aligned with state and AF standards.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including differentiated instruction and project-based learning.
- Foster critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep appreciation for literature and writing through dynamic lessons and activities.
- Assess and analyze student performance data to inform instruction and provide targeted support.
- Classroom Management:
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student learning and personal growth.
- Establish and maintain high expectations for student behavior and academic performance.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
- Collaboration and Professional Development:
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and develop innovative instructional strategies.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in English education and pedagogy.
- Engage in regular feedback and coaching sessions with school leadership and peers.
- Student and Family Engagement:
- Communicate regularly with students and families about academic progress, behavior, and opportunities for enrichment.
- Foster strong relationships with students and families to support student success and well-being.
- Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and community engagement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid state teaching certification in English (or eligibility for certification).
- Proven track record of success in teaching English at the high school level.
- Strong content knowledge and passion for literature and writing.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
