Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. You must be able to credential new providers, familiar with CAQH and obtaining NPI's for provdiers.
Your knowledge will be tested in the interview.
This role is crucial in facilitating the financial operations of our medical practice, ensuring timely and accurate billing for services rendered.
Duties
- Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies and government payers.
- Review patient records and ensure all necessary documentation is complete for billing purposes.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9 to accurately code diagnoses and procedures.
- Manage accounts receivable, including following up on unpaid claims and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, DRG (Diagnosis Related Group), and relevant billing regulations.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information.
- Assist in the collection of payments from patients as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical billing processes and terminology.
- Proficiency in medical coding, including knowledge of ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems.
- Familiarity with medical records management and medical collections practices.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Certification in Medical Billing or Coding is a plus but not required.
