Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (AECP) is New Jersey's first public charter school for students in middle school and high school that provides them with the unique opportunity to pursue one of four STEAM pathways (Health Sciences, Digital Media, Audio Engineering and Cisco Computer Networking). Students can have access to a program that allows them to earn up to 60 college credits, NOCTI credentials and workplace training . AECP is determined to ensure that students can enhance their journey through high school and graduate with content mastery, skills, and experiences that are essential to the current marketplace and the world beyond.

ABOUT THE ROLE :
Achievers Early College Prep is excited to grow a team of high school teachers who are committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through collaboration. Teachers in this position must be able to do the following :
Expert in content knowledge in Physics
Extensive knowledge of Science interventions that specifically target reading and writing skills
Experience / comfort with online applications to enhance learning
Design and implement curriculum and assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
Use data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
Receptive to weekly coaching and committed to growing and strengthening practice
Provide consistent rewards and / or consequences for student behavior
Implement multiple techniques for increased student engagement and checking for understanding
Will be accountable for students' mastery of academic standards
Familiarity with Google Classroom and virtual meeting platforms
Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
Physics Teacher Responsibilities :
Understanding curriculum requirements, and creating syllabi, lesson plans, and educational content that satisfy these requirements.
Analyzing the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of students and structuring lessons and assessments around them.
Adjusting teaching methods to suit different groups of learners.
Creating engaging, stimulating lesson plans and asking frequent questions to make sure students are on track.
Providing extra support to students that require it, and more challenging tasks to those who are ahead of the class.
Keeping abreast of developments and research in the field, and using this to ensure lessons are relevant.
Reporting any progress issues to the head of the department, as well as the parents.
Attending meetings, training sessions, workshops, conferences, and other continuing education initiatives.
Supervising lab sessions, delivering practical demonstrations, and accompanying students on field trips.
Keeping the line of communication open between students, staff, and parents.
Physics Teacher Requirements :
Degree in physical science or a related discipline.
Relevant teaching certification may be required.
A completed teaching apprenticeship would be advantageous.
Tutoring experience would be advantageous.
Familiarity with different types of teaching styles.
Patience, innovation, and knowledge of classroom management and student discipline.
Strong multitasking abilities.
Essential Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree is preferred
Teaching experience in an upper elementary, middle, or high school with an underserved population
Adept interpersonal and communication skills to diverse audiences
Valid NJ Teacher Certification completed or in progress
