About the Role
As the VP of Enterprise Applications at ACI Learning, you will drive the strategic vision and execution of enterprise technology initiatives, ensuring ACI Learning has the software infrastructure and operating platforms necessary to support all business functions and future growth. This role is strategic and requires strong business acumen in addition to an understanding of each application’s specific role in facilitating business needs, in a high growth environment, across multiple revenue models. This role also requires prior experience in private equity-backed middle market SaaS EdTech companies that have experienced high growth, both organically and through M&A. We need someone who ensures technology is not a constraint, but rather a powerful enabler of business growth and innovation.
Key Results
- Enterprise Application Strategy
- Complete an assessment of ACI’s current enterprise applications technology stack within the first 30 days that covers costs, license capacity and utilization, and maintainability of key identified technologies.
- Develop an acquisition due diligence checklist within 60 days for assessing potential acquisition operating platforms’ utilization and cost synergies.
- Develop an acquisition integration playbook within 90 days that enables ACI to fully integrate acquired EA stacks or migrate their technologies to ACI Learning’s EA Stack within 6 months of deal closure.
- Ensure that enterprise applications support operational reporting needs including standard SaaS metrics and compliant revenue recognition practices.
- Subscription Optimization
- Lead the evaluation and integration of B2C commerce platforms, addressing strategic needs such as customer acquisition, user experience, and checkout optimization.
- Oversee systems to manage subscriptions, auto-renewals, and multi-tier pricing, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, and finance teams to ensure the technology ecosystem drives customer acquisition, retention, and revenue growth.
- Data Strategy and Governance
- Create an architecture design and roadmap for effective Master Data Management (MDM) and data lake solutions to enable real-time data access for ARR/MRR analysis and operational decision-making within 6 months.
- Implement governance frameworks to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with GDPR, FERPA, and other relevant regulations.
- Use analytics to deliver actionable insights for improving revenue predictability and customer lifetime value (CLV).
- Revenue Management and Recognition
- Establish systems and processes to support revenue recognition, ensuring alignment with industry standards and accounting practices.
- Collaborate with finance to automate reporting for recurring revenue metrics and ensure data consistency across platforms like Salesforce, NetSuite, and HubSpot.
- Design workflows to optimize billing, renewal, and pricing strategies in alignment with the business model.
- Leadership in Transformation
- Run a quarterly platform assessment review with Executive Leadership with recommendations on how to increase the return and productivity of our technology spend while reducing cost.
- Lead and mentor a team of enterprise architects and technologists to foster innovation and excellence.
- Define and implement onboarding and ongoing training for ACI Learning staff for core functionality, as well as new and upcoming features within our EA platforms within the first 6 months.
- Vendor and Technology Ecosystem Management
- Build strong relationships with vendors of key platforms, including HubSpot, Salesforce, MuleSoft, Zapier, and NetSuite, to optimize system performance and conduct contract reviews and negotiations as needed.
- Evaluate vendor solutions to align with long-term business strategy and scalability requirements.
- Ensure that ACI Learning Team members have access to enterprise application vendor roadmaps and are aware of relevant upcoming improvements that can make our teams more productive on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience managing enterprise applications for SaaS EdTech technology companies
- Prior experience with M&A due diligence and post-acquisition integrations
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field is a plus
- Hands-on experience with HubSpot, Salesforce, Atlassian, NetSuite, and API tools like MuleSoft or Zapier.
- Expertise in data management systems, governance frameworks, and analytics tools
