Position Overview
The Intake Coordinator is responsible for managing incoming new patients. This role involves obtaining patient referrals from healthcare providers, physicians, patient self-referrals, and online inquires. The Intake Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that each patient receives exceptional service and support throughout their journey with Ackerman Urology.
Essential Job Functions:
- Verify patients' insurance coverage or explore alternative options for treatment costs.
- Coordinate with billing to address any insurance or payment-related concerns.
- Respond promptly to inquiries from potential patients in need of cancer care.
- Provide comprehensive information about the treatment, addressing their questions and concerns.
- Maintain regular communication to nurture leads and guide patients through the inquiry stage.
- Assist patients in understanding the costs associated with services and treatment.
- Discuss insurance coverage details and explore payment options as necessary.
- Offer guidance and support to help patients make informed decisions.
- Ensure that necessary authorizations are obtained from insurance providers prior to consults and imaging.
- Coordinate appointment scheduling, working closely with physicians and clinic staff
- Maintain accurate records of appointments and follow-up actions.
- Maintain positive relationships with patients, providing up-to-date information, education, and exceptional patient experiences.
- Support intake duties at all locations of Ackerman Cancer Center as needed.
Requirements:
- At least five years related experience in Customer Service in a medical environment is required.
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the medical field
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
Hours: Monday - Friday; generally 8:00am - 4:30pm
