The Senior Engineer, Mechanical Design at ACL Digital is a key role focused on mechanical assemblies for our Robotics and Automation product lines. This position is ideal for an individual contributor who will work within a multi-disciplinary engineering team to address product, supply chain, and quality challenges.
The engineer will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and testing solutions, ensuring a smooth transition from engineering to manufacturing and ultimately to the field. In this role, the engineer will lead technical teams to develop and evaluate design changes to existing products, tackling complex multi-product level problems that require thorough analysis of various factors.
The engineer will also lead the design and analysis of intricate mechanical systems, conduct formal technical reviews with a focus on Design for Manufacturing (DFM), tolerance stack-up, and serviceability. Additionally, the engineer will execute failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to identify high-risk areas and improve designs, as well as lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts to define effective corrective actions.
The position also involves mentoring and coordinating with other engineers, managing multiple concurrent tasks, and developing quarterly goals. The engineer must be willing to travel to domestic and international locations to support customers, evaluate field issues, and assist with the startup of new products.
This role requires a self-starter who can work independently while also fostering strong collaborative relationships within cross-functional teams.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead multi-disciplinary technical teams to develop and evaluate design changes to our existing product portfolio.
- Evaluate complex multi-product level problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
- Lead the design and analysis of complex mechanical systems, including formal technical reviews with a focus on DFM, tolerance stack-up, and serviceability.
- Lead the execution of failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) of system-level and sub-system level designs to identify high-risk areas and improve designs.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts and define creative and effective corrective actions.
- Provide leadership at a system / subassembly project level by assigning work and resolving problems as required.
- Mentor and coordinate other engineers.
- Willingness to travel to domestic and international off-site locations as necessary to directly support customers, evaluate field issues, and support startup activities for new products.
- Estimate, manage, and report time required for multiple, concurrent tasks.
- Develop quarterly goals.
