CDL Driver / Installer is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods and other articles of trade to job sites for installation. The CDL Driver is tasked with driving and maintaining trucks that are assigned to them, as well as working closely with our team of dispatchers in order to plan routes and make timely deliveries. Position is also responsible for creating and installing roadway signs, preparing, repairing and install traffic signs and marking pavements on highways, bridges, bicycle paths and other roadways.
Essential Job Functions : Includes, but is not limited to, the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions may be required as deemed necessary by management personnel to contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Drive long distances to deliver materials to jobsites in a timely manner.
Load, unload and record cargo deliveries. Maintain paperwork.
Refuel and clean vehicle.
Inspect trucks and record issues. Report road incidents to the dispatcher and report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
Follow traffic laws and follow accident procedures.
Keep an activities log and log hours. Plan routes using GPS system.
Keep commercial driver requirements up to date.
Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications
Transportation of materials, tools and equipment to / from installation sites
Cut materials to specified sizes for installation by use of power tools
Assemble and install signs adjacent to high-volume roadways using pneumatic tools and equipment ensuring that signs are placed in proper locations
Ability to drive a vehicle properly and safely
Ability to operate tools properly and safely
Ability to set up traffic control if required
Ability to safely lift, move, or carry objects weighing 50 lbs.
This position requires a valid and clean drivers' license
Highway Sign assembly and installation experience preferred
Desired Qualifications :
Proven work experience as a truck driver with extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.)
Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.)

Requirements
Must possess a current and Valid Class A CDL or commercial driver license
Must possess the ability to drive manual transmission AND no "Manual Transmission Restriction" on license.
Must be able to pass requirements on a FMCSA Clearinghouse Query
Must provide a medical certificate
Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day or several hours at a time, standing and walking for extended periods of time (more than several hours), loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles, walking on varying ground surfaces and frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
Working from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds
Operating hand / power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smart phones, physical agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively
Working outdoors, working safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions which include high speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction substances
Comfortable around vehicles moving through work zones and maintaining constant awareness of surroundings on construction site including placement of machinery and equipment, other employees and construction activities
Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans
Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance from supervisors, conversations in person, and over the telephone
Communicating clearly - both written and verbally, ability to complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor
Working a flexible schedule which can include day or night shifts, weekends and / or holidays, adjusting to a changing work schedule, working overtime and working individually and as a team with other employees
Valid driver's license required, will require passing MVR and controlled substance test, may require background and criminal record check. Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
Must maintain company standards post-employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record and controlled substance / drug testing
