The Mobile Fleet Mechanic position is responsible for maintaining vehicle / equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle / equipment deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records. The position works under the direction of the Fleet Manager and is accountable for the tasks of troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining production and facility vehicle / equipment to support daily work activities while maintaining safety objectives and company processes.
Based out of Pensacola Branch Location - Mobile Mechanic
Available to work Saturdays as needed
8-10 Hour Shifts
Essential Job Functions : Includes, but is not limited to, the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions may be required as deemed necessary by management personnel to contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Ability to work on construction vehicle / equipment
Able to determine vehicle / equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts
Keeps vehicle / equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures
Corrects vehicle / equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
Verifies vehicle / equipment performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
Complies with federal and state vehicle / equipment requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
Maintains vehicle / equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
Maintains vehicle / equipment records by annotating services and repairs.
Keeps shop vehicle / equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
Desired Qualifications :
Must be wiling to travel to different branch locations as needed using company provided service truck. May require occasional overnight stay
ASE Certified preferred but not mandatory
Must have electrical and drivability diagnostic experience- Required
1-3 years of Mechanic experience of Diesel and Gas engines for on-highway vehicles
Light / Medium / Heavy Duty Vehicle & Trailer Repair Experience - Required
Off-Highway equipment experience such as front-end loaders, skid steers, mini excavators, forklifts
Experience in performing Annual Federal DOT Inspections
Class A CDL preferred but not mandatory

Requirements
Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day or several hours at a time, standing and walking for extended periods of time (more than several hours), loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles, walking on varying ground surfaces and frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
Working from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds
Operating hand / power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smart phones, physical agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively
Working outdoors, working safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions which include high speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction substances
Comfortable around vehicles moving through work zones and maintaining constant awareness of surroundings on construction site including placement of machinery and equipment, other employees and construction activities
Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans
Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance from supervisors, conversations in person, and over the telephone
Communicating clearly - both written and verbally, ability to complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor
Working a flexible schedule which can include day or night shifts, weekends and / or holidays, adjusting to a changing work schedule, working overtime and working individually and as a team with other employees
Valid driver's license required, will require passing MVR and controlled substance test, may require background and criminal record check. Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
Must maintain company standards post-employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record and controlled substance / drug testing
