What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underground Utility Foreman position at Acme Construction?
Acme Construction is a growing General Contractor, located in North Salt Lake, Utah. We are looking to add an experienced and skilled Underground Utility Foreman to our excavation team. As a valued member of our company, you will play a crucial role in executing projects to the highest standards of quality and safety.
The Underground Utility Foreman will be responsible for installation of sewer, water and storm drainage systems following construction plans and all safety guidelines. This position directly supervises a team, coordinates activities assigned, implements and maintains services within established guidelines and standards, and performs a variety of duties as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist with various tasks on construction sites, including but not limited to:
- Setting up and taking down temporary structures
- Cleaning and organizing work areas
- Loading and unloading materials and equipment
- Assisting with general labor duties as needed
- Follow safety protocols and ensure a safe work environment for all workers
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively
- Communicate any issues or concerns to supervisors in a timely manner
- Pipe installation: Install and repair underground pipelines for water, sewer and drainage systems
- Trench preparation: Prepare trenches for pipe installation through digging and grading
- Alignment and Positioning: align and position pipes according to blueprints and specifications
- Pipe Connection: Connect popes using various methods
- Testing: Install and test pope systems for leaks or malfunctions.
- Site restoration: Backfill trenches and compact soil to restore the ground surface
- Lead assigned team members
Skills:
- Heavy Machinery Operation: Ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators and Track hoes
- Concrete Forming Techniques: Familiarity with techniques for pipe supports
- Utility Locating: Proficiency in utility location to prevent damage to existing infrastructure.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- 5 years previous experience
- Knowledge of basic construction techniques and tools
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety procedures
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints and understand grades.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Supervisory experience
- OSHA Certified a plus
- Must be over age 18 and legal to work in the US
Pay:
$30 - $45 per hour – based on experience, education and certifications
Work:
Monday to Friday - day shifts
**Nights and Weekends may be required only if the project dictates.
