Service Writer - Part Time

The Service Writer is responsible for providing support to the General Manager, Service Team, and customers. Responsibilities include liaising with customers and determine needs, providing clear and precise instructions on the work order for the technician, estimating and scheduling the work required, following through to make sure the work is completed correctly the first time in a timely manner and invoicing and collecting payment in a prompt and timely manner prior to vessels departure.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:  

• Provide support to Service Manager, Service Team, and customers
• Determine all needs and act as liaison between customers and Service Manager
• Provide clear and precise instructions on the work order for technicians
• Estimate and schedule all required work
• Ensure all work orders are completed in a timely manner
• Generate invoice for all work provided by service departments
• Collect payment in a timely manner
• Continuously meets ongoing company goals
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory and sanitation policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior marina experience preferred
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and targets.
• Reliable with good time management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Adaptable to working in a fast-paced environment.
• Must enjoy working outdoors.
• Must read and write in English.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must be able to swim.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluation situations and making decisions.
• General seamanship knowledge, boating right of ways rules, basic navigation, and inshore and offshore mooring techniques.
• Work tasks may be performed both indoors and outdoors.

• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent walking, reaching, bending, turning, and stooping,
• Outside work for extended periods of time in various weather conditions.
• Normal vision and hearing ranges required.
• Must be comfortable using all dock equipment and materials (gas pump, boats, ropes, anchors, among others).

• Working in wet and slippery conditions. Frequently working in an outdoor, hot, and damp environment.
