Description

The Production Associate II is responsible for operating and maintaining composites injection molding equipment used in the manufacturing, repair, and overhaul of aerospace components. This role requires experience in a regulated aerospace environment, ensuring strict adherence to FAA, AS9100, and quality control standards while producing high-performance composite parts for aircraft applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing & Production:

  • Operate and monitor injection molding machines for composite aerospace components.
  • Prepare and mix composite resins and reinforcement materials following precise formulations.
  • Load raw materials into molds, monitor cycle times, and adjust machine parameters for optimal quality.
  • Perform secondary processes such as trimming, bonding, curing, and finishing of molded composite parts.

Quality Control & Compliance:

  • Conduct in-process inspections using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, CMMs) to ensure compliance with AS9100 and FAA standards.
  • Identify and document non-conforming parts, working closely with the quality team to implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of production runs, material usage, and process deviations.

Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Support:

  • Assist in the repair and refurbishment of damaged composite aerospace components using injection molding and bonding techniques.
  • Follow OEM and regulatory guidelines to restore parts to airworthy condition.
  • Work with engineers to refine molding and repair processes for improved efficiency and durability.

Safety & Continuous Improvement:

  • Follow strict safety protocols, including PPE use, hazardous material handling, and cleanroom procedures.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma initiatives to improve workflow and efficiency.
  • Train and mentor junior team members on aerospace composite molding and repair techniques.

 

Qualifications


 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification or associate’s degree in manufacturing or aerospace technology preferred).
  • 2 years of experience in composite injection molding, preferably in an aerospace MRO or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations, AS9100 standards, and aerospace material specifications.
  • Experience with injection molding machines, vacuum bagging, autoclaves, and curing ovens.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with NDI (Non-Destructive Inspection) techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a high-temperature environment.

Work Environment:

  • Aerospace manufacturing and MRO facility with exposure to chemicals, high temperatures, and tight tolerances.
  • Strict adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Shift work may be required, including weekends and overtime.
