Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Chief Accounting Officer and Controller to join our executive team in a vital leadership capacity. This role oversees all accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations while promoting efficiency and innovation within the department. Working closely with the CFO and other executives, the ideal candidate will align financial strategies with ACNB Bank’s mission and goals to drive growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and review of financial statements to ensure adherence to US GAAP and regulatory standards for the banking sector.
- Oversee SEC reporting processes, including the filing of 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, and other regulatory documents.
- Manage the external audit process, ensuring seamless compliance and efficient communication with auditors.
- Implement and monitor accounting policies and procedures tailored to the banking industry.
- Spearhead the monthly and quarterly close processes, maintaining rigorous accuracy and timeliness.
- Provide technical accounting expertise and advise executives on complex financial matters, such as acquisition accounting.
- Collaborate with the CFO to develop budgeting and financial strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
- Cultivate and mentor an effective, high-performing accounting team, fostering continuous development.
- Ensure the integrity of SEC filings and contribute to external communications and investor relations.
- Stay ahead of evolving SEC regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance.
- Advocate for operational improvements, leveraging automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy across accounting functions.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA certification strongly preferred).
- At least 10 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, with 5 years in leadership (preferably in banking).
- Deep expertise in US GAAP, SEC reporting, and banking-specific accounting standards.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and inspiring accounting teams.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to align solutions with business strategy.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in SOX compliance and working with external auditors.
