Our client is a $50M Social Services Organization seeking a Sr. Grants Accountant to join their robust Finance Team. The selected individual will personally manage both the accounting and financial side of their ~$10M grants portfolio with guidance from Director of Grants and the Controller. Portfolios will consist of city, state, and federal grants / contracts.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the financial management of all grants, contracts, and revenue streams - ensuring accurate and timely recording of revenue, expenses, and reporting with their allocated portfolio
- Collaborate with program managers to develop grant budgets, financial forecasts, variance insights, and strategic planning
- Monitor budgets and expenditures, providing regular financial reports to senior leadership and the board
- Audit and approve the allocations, coding, and expenditures
- Responsible for all journal entries and reclassifications
- Support the month end closes with various responsibilities across GL entries, prepaids, accruals, reconciliations, etc
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as specific grant requirements from institutional and foundation donors
- Prepare and submit financial reports to grantors as required by grant agreements.
- Provide guidance and work allocations to Jr. Analysts
- Help the team to achieve organizational goals, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA, MBA, CNAP preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in government restricted funds management
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and city grant and contract regulations
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and advanced Excel skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
