The primary role of a packer is to remove product from the conveyor or machine, inspect, and hand pack the finished products according to the manufacturing orders (MOs). Packers may also assist machine operators with roll changes, case erection and various tasks to ensure machine is running properly. Packers are expected to remain in compliance with company operating, safety and housekeeping procedures, and practices and policies.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
Compensation Range: $17.00 - $19.00 hourly. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position. ACR reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. What You’ll Need To Be Successful
- High School or trade school graduate or equivalent GED.
- Able to read and write; able to understand Manufacturing Orders and Job Hazard Analysis. Basic reading and math skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Receives packing order and determines correct packing materials are available at the packing station. Notifies material handler or supervisor if additional materials are needed.
- Visually inspects products for defects, setting aside defective items or repairing where possible. Inspects product for size, formation, and other requirements to ensure the product meets quality specifications.
- Labels cardboard cases, packs finished products into the appropriate cases, inspects packaging and cases, tapes cases, poly-shrink wrapping, and assisting with roll changes.
- Organizes work area in a clean and efficient manner to perform processes according to established standards, productivity levels, housekeeping, and safety requirements.
- Keeps records of items packed and reports any discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Informs supervisor of operating deviations or mechanical problems as they occur.
- Rotates with other worker in department as required by safety and supervisor guidelines.
- Reads and understands all policies, procedures, Manufacturing Orders (MO), and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and management staff.
