About the Role:
Wholesure is seeking a Contract Binding Underwriter – Commercial Auto to join our Central Region team. This role will focus on underwriting and managing a portfolio of contract binding business, with a specialization in Commercial Auto risks. The ideal candidate will leverage strong carrier relationships, underwriting expertise, and market knowledge to drive profitable growth while ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will leverage strong carrier relationships, underwriting expertise, and market knowledge to drive profitable growth while ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwriting & Risk Assessment: Evaluate, assess, and underwrite Commercial Auto risks within contract binding authority, ensuring profitability and compliance with carrier guidelines.
- Carrier & Broker Relations: Maintain and strengthen relationships with binding authority carriers, ensuring optimal market access and competitive positioning.
- Portfolio Management: Monitor and analyze the performance of the Commercial Auto book, implementing underwriting strategies to enhance profitability and mitigate risks.
- Service & Efficiency: Work closely with internal teams to improve backend service workflows, ensuring efficient policy issuance, endorsements, and renewals.
- Market & Industry Expertise: Stay informed on industry trends, carrier appetites, and regulatory changes impacting Commercial Auto insurance.
- Collaboration & Growth: Partner with brokerage specialists and the sales team to identify cross-selling and new business opportunities.
- 3-5 years of Commercial Auto underwriting experience, preferably in a contract binding environment.
- Strong knowledge of Commercial Auto insurance products, market trends, and carrier guidelines.
- Established relationships with contract binding carriers and wholesalers.
- Experience with agency management systems and underwriting automation tools.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team-oriented environment.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills to build relationships with carriers and brokers.
- Insurance designations (CPCU, AU, CIC) are a plus.
