About the Role
The Water Meter Installer reports to the Smart Meter Deployment Operations Manager at Bermex . This position play s a key role in water meter maintenance and measurement . This position also requires a high degree of walking in outdoor environmental conditions, excellent time management, an d exceptional flexibility day to day .
What You'll Do
Water Meter Maintenance :
Perform visual inspections of water service for leaks
Identify hazards at meter sites and report accordingly
Properly change out water meters of varying sizes and brands
Properly change out water meter registers for AMI/AMR upgrade
Water Meter Reading :
Read water meters
Enter data collected in the field into a handheld computer
A ssist on additional project s, as necessary
Customer Communication :
Refer all consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities
P rovide general information about the meter services to customers, when applicable
Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers to communicate
Other duties as assigned.
About You
Must Ha ves:
Education: None. M ust be 18 years of age or older r
Experience: No experience necessary , e mployees will be trained . Valid d river's license is required
Nice to Have:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: 1 or more years of experience in the direct exchange of water meters and registers of varying sizes; 1 year of continuous work with the same employer, and/or 6 or more months working
Your Skills :
A bility to multi-task , and work independently a nd as a team
Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling . Must be flexible in times of need, including extended nights and weekends .
Adequate time management skills to finish daily meter reads in a timely manner , figuring out an efficient way to read meters for that day
Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with management and customers
Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional manner
Excellent attention to detail for problem solving and finding
Ability to walk long distances and prepare for weather conditions, accordingly
Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Place a high value on safety, quality of work, and operational procedure s
B asic knowledge of GIS systems and principles is required

Where We Work
