POSITION SUMMARY
An Architectural Job Captain prepares design and construction documents under the supervision of experienced staff. These assigned asks are completed with limited direction. An Architectural Job Captain prepares planning, building and health permit submittals. They review and respond to contractor RFI's and submittals. A Job Captain will, at times, delegate and guide Architectural Associates in their assigned work. Generally, has three or more years or experience working in an architectural office.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assigned tasks and components of projects with limited direction.
- Conduct site surveys of existing spaces.
- Prepare design and construction drawings.
- Review code requirements for specific issues
- Consult with manufacturers, research and evaluate materials.
- Coordinate with engineering consultants, communicate project requirements and schedules, and review their drawings.
- Research requirements for plan review submittals to the authorities having jurisdiction and preparing those submittals.
- Assist in construction administration including preparing responses to RFIs and submittals, preparing sketches and addenda, visiting the construction site to gather information and/or preparing a punch list.
- Maintain project files. Compile record CD file of drawings at project milestones. Document all communications with outside parties. Document and distribute project information to appropriate team members and outside parties
- May direct junior team members on tasks.
- Provide information, developmental support and training to team members. Utilize established office training processes and procedures designed to expand the knowledge and enhance the skills of the project team members.
- Some travel required for site visits and meetings
Minimum Qualifications:
To succeed in this position, you must meet the following criteria:
Education:
- Graduated with a degree in Architecture or a related program.
- Graduated with a NAAB-Accredited degree in Architecture – preferred.
Experience/Skills/Abilities:
- Five years of United States architectural experience working under a licensed architect in a design or production role
- Minimum of three years Revit project experience, actively working in Revit
- Advanced level AutoCAD
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Bluebeam proficiency
- Self-motivated with a high level of accountability
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Attention to detail and solid understanding of construction means and methods
- Developing presentation and project management skills
- Solid understanding of building code requirements
- Can create technically sound building details
- Understands client programs in order to translate them into appropriate building designs
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
Proficient in any of the following:
- SketchUp
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Lumion (or other similar rendering software)
- COMcheck
