Job Title: Network Engineer

Location: ANNAPOLIS, MD (Hybrid)

We are currently seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications

Qualifications

• Associate degree in an Information Technology (IT) related field (as determined by the AOC).
• Active certifications:
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) in Enterprise or Security.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Ten (10) years of CONUS technical experience in IT networking.
• Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology (IT) related field (as determined by the AOC).
• Recent certifications (issued within the last four (4) years):
• Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) in Enterprise Infrastructure or Security.
• Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE).
• Prisma Certified Cloud Security Engineer (PCCSE) from Palo Alto Networks.
  

Scope Of Work

• Designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and documenting computer networks and infrastructure.
• Performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation of a statewide network, utilizing industry best practices for security, disaster recovery, business continuity, change control, and client support.
• Developing and analyzing network designs and protocols, including prototyping and assessment.
• Planning, engineering, forecasting, and implementing network systems while identifying resource requirements.
• Leading and assisting in major network projects to support capacity growth, upgrades, and new products/features.
• Evaluating current network systems and recommending changes in maintenance and systems standards, while training support personnel on conversion, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Applying in-depth, up-to-date knowledge of standards, guidelines, and industry trends for LAN, WAN, Wireless, Data Center, Cloud networking, and interconnection.
• Driving improvements in network processes, efficiency, and standardization.
• Ensuring security compliance, change control processes, and adherence to standards.
• Providing upper-tier diagnosis, isolation, and resolution of network problems, identifying and documenting root causes, and proactively identifying potential issues.
• Developing comprehensive graphical and text-based documentation and effectively managing the implementation process from design to acceptance.
• Hosting weekly status meetings/calls with the team or as needed.
• Leading, scheduling, and overseeing activities with other team members to resolve end-user hardware and software problems in a timely manner.
• Assisting in the creation of robust network designs, acting as the escalation point of contact and lead engineer for implementations, providing ongoing support and maintenance.
• Overseeing the configuration, maintenance, and documentation of routers, switches, wireless controllers, load balancers, security appliances, WAN optimizers, and management and security appliances.
• Reporting as follows:
• Weekly reports communicating project progress and status.
• Weekly time reporting on JIS provided forms.
• Any additional reports as assigned by the supervising manager.

• IPsec and SSL VPN
• PKI
• Two-Factor Authentication
• Enterprise VoIP and physical security environments, including access control and video surveillance network applications.
• Quality-of-Service design and implementation.
• Network Management Protocols, Applications, and Operating System capabilities.
• Installation and configuration of Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, and Palo Alto platforms.
• Installation, configuration, securing, and troubleshooting enterprise wireless access systems.
• Ability to:
• Work independently, troubleshoot, and mentor junior associates.
• Communicate effectively when providing presentations.
• Produce technical documents (diagrams, design documents, project plans and schedules, and user instructions) as required.
• Knowledge of:
• Infrastructure Services and IPAM products.
• IP multicast, Enterprise Video conferencing, streaming, and on-demand components.
• Coding languages for scripting.
• Major server desktop operating systems and utilities.
