Overview:
ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Industrial Safety Specialist position will provide support to the organization during the Columbia Generating Station (CGS) refueling outage. This specialist will work under the technical direction of the Contract Technical Representative, with support in ensuring safety and regulatory compliance through inspections, audits, and monitoring of contractors and subcontractors. This position involves reviewing facilities, equipment, and work tasks, resolving compliance issues, and providing safety analyses for potential hazards. Responsibilities also include responding to medical emergencies, participating in incident reviews, conducting environmental monitoring, providing safety training, and adhering to all safety rules and the Excellence Model. This full-time position is located in Richland, WA.
Pay rate: $36.31 – $62.40

Responsibilities:
- Conduct safety and industrial hygiene inspections and audits to assure compliance with policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
- Minimize liability by monitoring and enforcing compliance with safety requirements and Washington State regulations as they apply to a contractor, subcontractor, or its employees.
- Review and become knowledgeable about the prime and general contractor’s liability as identified in the Department of Labor & Industries WISHA Regional Directive (WRD) 27.
- Review facilities, equipment, and work tasks to assure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Resolve problems and provide cost interpretations relating to safety and health policy and procedure compliance.
- Perform industrial safety analysis and provide judgment decisions for areas of concern such as potential fall exposure issues, potential chemical exposure issues, high-noise areas, and lead-based coating removal.
- Respond to on-site medical emergencies and render first aid treatment as required by individual certification protocols.
- Attend and represent Industrial Safety in meetings, event investigations, and incident review boards, as assigned.
- Perform confined space, heat stress, and indoor air quality monitoring and analysis as qualified and as requested.
- Provide industrial safety training, as qualified, and as directed by the Contract Technical Representative.
- Observe and comply with the safety rules, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Observe and comply with the Excellence Model.
Requirements:
- BS degree in Safety Engineering or a related field and 8 years of applicable experience
- OR an associate’s degree with 10 years of applicable experience
- OR 14 years of applicable experience
- A well-developed aptitude and skilled demonstration of the core values, leadership competencies, and abilities/skills identified in the abilities/skills section of this position description
- Managed a project from beginning to end
- Prepared complex written reports
- Prepared and delivered oral presentations to management and to internal/external organizations
- Served as a leader of a committee or task force
- Facilitated group problem-solving, decision-making, or strategic planning sessions
- Led benchmarking, self-assessments, or audits
- Instructional experience
