Description

ACT Fulfillment is looking for a motivated, self-starter, Safety and Security Manager to join a growing team. A valuable partnership with our management team is what we need for an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company. We have three facilities covering over 1.5 million square feet and serves many customers from a wide variety of industries. From electronics and games to consumer goods, footwear and apparel, the service offering is broad but at the same time remains focused on quality and accuracy. Job Summary:

The Safety and Security Manager will be responsible to execute company safety and security policies and procedures to ensure compliance for all applicable local and state regulations. This position will lead continuous improvement initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. In addition, effectively provide security services and asset protection through design of physical infrastructure and processes for all warehouse facilities. Understands the company’s business goals and recommend new approaches to effect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity and development within the company. Inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.

Job Expectations:

Safety

  • Partner with the Operations team, as well as cross functional teams throughout the company, in providing support to establish a safe, secure and efficient work environment
  • Oversee the building maintenance, coordinates vendor services for repairs, ensure that all facilities are in compliance with safety regulations
  • Develop and implement Accident Prevention Plan (APP), Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), and Emergency Disaster Preparedness Program; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Manage the warehouse safety effort and ensure compliance for lockout/tag out, confined space, fall protection, powered industrial vehicles in adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Conduct inspections of the facility, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and administer control methods to ensure safety regulatory compliance
  • Ensure Worker’s Compensation Claims Management program is administered in an effective and compliant manner in partnership with Human Resources team including, accident/injury investigations, data analysis, and recurrence prevention program and procedures
  • Partner with Human Resources team for Workers Compensation reports, leave of absences, restrictions, accommodations
  • Respond and provide assistance in all emergency situations as the liaison with the safety triage vendor to provide first aid to employees as needed
  • Manage and design all required safety training and maintain all safety training records as required by company policy, federal and state regulations
  • Ensure safety training for all ACT new hires, agency employees, contractors for new hire orientation onboarding
  • Spend at least 50% of the time on the warehouse floor/grounds scanning warehouse floor for potential hazards, identify safety/security violations
  • Implement and lead a Safety Committee that will be a conduit for communication and awareness, including participating in safety related projects
  • Purchase and maintain the safety related inventory items, such as first aid supplies, drug and alcohol testing supplies and PPE needed for the facilities
  • Conduct emergency response drills on an annual basis, report results to management, and implement identified corrective actions
  • Implement safety incentive programs by compiling department results on a monthly basis, promote recognition to employees though monthly, quarterly, annual celebrations
  • Implement various communication tools and methods to create safety awareness, i.e., posting with monitors, bulletin boards, emails

Security

  • Maintain the overall security of all facilities for a safe and healthy work environment
  • Identify and eliminate sources of theft through data analysis, comprehensive process knowledge, and investigative techniques
  • Manage and operate company’s surveillance system, provide video findings for Human Resources and Operations investigations
  • Interface with outside security companies and law enforcement as needed to ensure ongoing coordination during investigations and resolution
  • Manage and maintain the issuing of employee badges for employees, temporary, visitors for onsite security access
  • Onboard, train, coordinate the duties of the security personnel on daily operations for post orders, resolutions to operations issues
  • Maintain records of security items, including keys, uniforms, radios and other related items

Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements that govern worker health and safety, physical assessment and ergonomic skills
  • Strong presentation skills for training, effective communicator
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, proven ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, build trust and confidence with management, employees
  • Experience in a multi-shift operation a plus
  • CPR and First Aid certified
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports
  • Required to travel 25% to all warehouse facilities
  • Bilingual In English/Spanish preferred

Equipment Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge in surveillance camera monitoring software
  • Proficient computer skills

Experience Requirements:

Generally requires a minimum of five (5) years in safety and security, risk management or related experience in a logistics or manufacturing environment. Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in safety management, Occupational Safety Environment and Health, Loss Prevention or related field preferred or a combination of education and equivalent work experience. OSHA 30-hour certification is a plus.

Judgment/Reasoning Ability: Able to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise and diplomacy. Ability to use judgment and reasoning skills, and determine when to escalate issues, as required, in a timely manner.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers, bend, stoop and reach with hands and arms. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to perform essential duties throughout the workday. The employee may occasionally lift or move materials and products up to 25 pounds. Proper lifting techniques required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

Work Environment: The noise in the work environment is usually moderate. Other factors are:

  • Fast-paced warehouse work environment with multi-level distractions
  • Professional, yet casual work environment
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally exposed to outside/inside cold and heat weather conditions
  • Ability to work extended hours as required

Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
