Imaging and Computer Vision AI Engineer
Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is a small research group focused on medical imaging and signals from hospital instruments. Their goal is to enhance diagnostic information while minimizing patient inconvenience and cost. They work on projects like speeding up MRI scans, reducing radiation in CT scans, and improving patient comfort during these procedures. The team develops infrastructure to stream signals to the cloud for analysis and uses AI to train models for better diagnostics with less data.
MSR Diagnostic Imaging team is looking for an imaging and vision AI engineer with the following responsibilities:
- Implement deep learning models in the domain of medical imaging, image analysis, image reconstruction, and video processing.
- Prepare and check datasets from raw instrument data, perform labelling and assemble datasets.
- Set up regression tests and work on model optimization for inference performance
- Train models on GPU clusters.
- Undertake code refactoring to improve existing codebases.
Key Projects:
- Developing faster MRI scans and reducing radiation in CT scans to improve patient comfort and safety.
- Creating infrastructure to stream signals from hospital instruments to the cloud for analysis.
- Training AI models to predict patient conditions with less data, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
- Refactoring code to run on large clusters, monitoring training jobs, and fixing issues as they arise.
- Focusing on AI research, data wrangling, and software development to support these initiatives.
Key Hard Skills:
- Minimum 2-3 years experience with Python (writing machine learning software)
- Minimum 2-3 years experience with machine learning frameworks, particularly PyTorch.
- Minimum 2-3 years experience with VS Code ( Strong software development skills, including code refactoring, monitoring training jobs, and fixing issues)
- Minimum 2-3 years experience with GitHub and Azure
Best vs. Average:
- Medical Imaging / Terminology - Biomedical
- Medical engineering experience
- AI/Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning
- Experience with medical imaging or biomedical fields, which can facilitate quicker onboarding and better communication.
- Familiarity with image reconstruction processes, which is a significant plus.(MRI/CT/ Anything that needs to turn into images)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with researchers and other team members to achieve project goals.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address technical challenges in AI model training and data processing.
- Good communication skills to articulate technical details and project requirements clearly
Disqualifiers:
- Lack of strong coding skills, particularly in Python and related machine learning frameworks like PyTorch.
- Being located outside of North America, as a meaningful overlap with Pacific Time Zone hours is required.
- Inability to write quality software, as the team's output is primarily expressed through code.
- Insufficient experience in writing software professionally, ideally 2-3 years or more.
- Not meeting the requirement for familiarity with Python and machine learning frameworks
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90.00 - $110.00
