Job Description
We are currently hiring a Registered Architect to support a General Construction company in Columbus, OH. The General Construction company primarily works on commercial and large industrial projects throughout Ohio and the surrounding states. As an architect in a design-builder’s pre-construction team under the supervision of the Pre-Construction Manager, you will perform administrative and professional architectural work by managing projects from pre-construction through the completion of each project. You will provide leadership to the project and coordinate with internal business development, design and estimating teams, and external project design and engineering teams in the design of construction projects. You will also serve as the liaison between the design team and the construction personnel.
Responsibilities
- Perform professional architectural work through building design stages, including Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Bidding, and Construction Administration.
- Meet clients, understand objectives, and create schematic design of site layout and buildings while coordinating with preconstruction teams.
- Lead design development of architectural design and coordinate with internal and external design and engineering teams to develop required civil, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and other documents needed for estimation.
- Coordinate with internal preconstruction team and trade contractors to explore value engineering ideas during the bid stage.
- Plan and prepare construction documents for awarded projects, including permit applications and follow-up documents on permit review progress, while communicating with permit authorities.
- Receive permits upon approval and submit Check Requests (Urgent Pay Requests) to Accounting for associated fees according to Urgent Pay Request procedures.
- Maintain construction documents updated during construction and as-built documents afterwards.
- Oversee the documents of consultants (outside engineers and architects, if applicable) for accuracy and assurance of compliance to company standards.
- Maintain an up-to-date file or library of sample materials and catalogues.
- Attend project meetings if necessary for construction administration.
Essential Skills
- Licensed Architect in the State of Ohio
- 5 years of experience as an Architect supporting commercial or large industrial projects
- Proficient in designing using Revit
- Ability to run a project from start to finish
- Experience in construction administration
Work Environment
This is an in-office position, with work hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. As an Actalent consultant, you will support the design-build general contractor with the potential to transition to their team as a direct employee after a year-long period. You will have the opportunity to enroll in a 401k, health/dental/vision insurance, and receive paid holidays and vacation days. You will be working on large industrial and commercial projects, especially with automotive suppliers and automotive OEMs.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $45.67/hr.
