Associate Microbiologist - Hiring Immediately**

Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Microbiologist for our USP lab to conduct routine analysis and testing for pathogens such as E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria. This role involves plating for yeast, mold, and total plate count using various media and dilution techniques. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to receive future training in our Probiotics lab, including enumeration of probiotic samples and flow cytometry.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine analysis and testing for pathogens including E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria.
• Conduct plating for yeast, mold, and total plate count using different types of media and dilution techniques.
• Inoculate samples with proprietary blends for dietary supplements.
• Prepare media and perform microbiological laboratory procedures.
• Participate in future training for probiotic sample enumeration and flow cytometry.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and follow laboratory safety protocols.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences (Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field).
• 0-1 years of experience in a production/manufacturing or food service position.
• Proficiency in microbiology techniques and aseptic methods.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise measurements.
• Ability to multi-task and manage routine/repetitive tasks efficiently.
• Experience with PCR and ELISA testing is a plus.
• Competence in using various pipettes, particularly multi-channel electronic pipettes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in food testing or food service environments.
• Ability to verify high attention to detail through references.
• Knowledge of media preparation and microbiological laboratory procedures.

Work Environment

This position is based in a lab setting that focuses on testing dietary supplements and probiotics. The lab is part of a larger facility with 415 employees locally and 800 employees in total. The work environment is fast-paced and may be repetitive depending on the group. The microbiology department consists of around 20 employees and operates separately from the chemistry lab. The facility is new, having been established in January 2021, and offers advancement opportunities and a bonus program based on performance and tenure.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
