Job Description
We are hiring a technician for an automotive manufacturer. You will be a part of a team in support of the building of prototype vehicles. If you have strong mechanical skills in building, diagnosis, and troubleshooting, and you have a passion for cutting-edge vehicle technology, this job is for you. To be considered for this position you must have professional experience as a Mechanical or Automotive Technician. Reading blueprints/schematics, using a variety of mechanical tools, and building some sort of complex product or equipment is required.
Responsibilities
- Build up of vehicle chassis/cab
- Build up of vehicle front end box
- Support vehicle updates, maintenance, and repairs
- Create and update documentation related to build, updates, or repairs
- Vehicle mechanical commissioning
- Support of vehicle shakedown
- Read and interpret installation diagrams and update documentation
- Install high voltage cables on the vehicles according to routing and clipping guidelines
- Install low voltage cables and wires on the vehicles according to routing and clipping guidelines
- Assist commissioners and verify all connections made in the high voltage system are properly connected
- Communicate with engineering and shop management teams as required
- Document issues and support issue finding related to build
- Troubleshoot and replace high voltage components as updated parts are available
- Installation per Bills of Material per guidelines
- Inventory bulk items per current shop practices
- Operate forklifts, cranes, manlifts, vehicle lifts, and machine tools as needed for assembly or prototyping purposes
- Become proficient in basic computer program applications, timecards, CAD/DMU, Spec compare tools
- Participate and pass all relevant training
Essential Skills
- Professional experience as a Mechanical or Automotive Technician
- Strong mechanical skills in building, diagnosis, and troubleshooting
- Experience in mechanical assembly, reassembly, and vehicle builds within the automotive industry
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints/schematics
- Experience using a variety of mechanical tools
- Autonomous worker with a proactive mindset
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with diesel engines
- Experience with electrical systems
- Proficiency in using hand tools
- Experience with cabling and installation
- Experience with truck assembly
- Knowledge of axle, suspension, and cab systems
Work Environment
This is an onsite position, Monday through Friday. You will be working within a team-oriented environment that values good attitudes and a growth mindset. You will be involved in building a prototype electrified truck fleet, contributing to an exciting and innovative project.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
