Job Description
The Back Office Medical Assistant Floater will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. The floater will support clinician and care management teams in assessing, maintaining chronic disease management, examining, and treating patient populations. The role involves performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. The floater will work in various offices to support in either the Medical Assistant role or dedicated lab functions.
Responsibilities
- Perform quality team-based patient care under clinician supervision
- Support clinician and care management teams in patient assessment and chronic disease management
- Examine and treat patient populations
- Conduct all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy (venipuncture, finger sticks, heel sticks)
- Float between various offices as needed
- Communicate effectively with patients, employees, and the public
- Assess emergencies and act accordingly
Essential Skills
- Knowledge of laboratory quality control requirements
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Knowledge of universal precaution procedures in medical safety practices
- Phlebotomy skills
- Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to assess emergencies and act accordingly
- Flexibility to float between locations
- 2 years' experience within clinic/back office healthcare setting
- MA diploma OR Certified MA (CMA) OR 3 years' MA experience
- Phlebotomy experience
- Ability to take vitals (manual vitals preferred)
- Active BLS certification
- Active driver's license
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred
- Experience with TriMed EMR preferred
- Organized
- Independent
- Responsible
Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite, working Monday to Friday, 10am-7pm and every other Saturday, 8:00 am-12:00 pm. The floater will work across various locations including Doral, Miami Lakes, Miami Lakes East, Midtown, and Hialeah. Permanent opportunity with travel reimbursement provided ($0.67/mile when traveling between clinics). If floating outside core locations, a $20 gas card is provided. Willing to train on manual vitals.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41288.00 - $51043.00/yr.
