Job Description

The Back Office Medical Assistant Floater will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. This role supports clinicians and care management teams in assessing, maintaining chronic disease management, examining, and treating patient population. The medical assistant floater is responsible for performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. This floating employee will be working in various offices to support either in the MA role or dedicated lab.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality team-based patient care under clinician supervision.
• Support clinicians and care management teams in chronic disease management.
• Examine and treat patient population.
• Perform all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.
• Communicate and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
• Assess emergencies and act accordingly.
• Float from one location to another as patient queue demands.

Essential Skills

• Knowledge of laboratory quality control requirements.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Knowledge of universal precaution procedures in medical safety practices.
• Phlebotomy skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to assess emergencies.
• Flexibility to float between locations.
• Independent and responsible.
• Organized.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 2 years' experience within clinic/back office healthcare setting.
• MA diploma OR Certified MA (CMA) OR 3 years' MA experience.
• Phlebotomy experience required.
• Must be able to take vitals (manual vitals preferred).
• Active BLS required.
• Active driver's license required.
• Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.
• Experience with TriMed EMR preferred.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41288.00 - $51043.00/yr.
