Job Description
We are seeking a Systems Specialist to join our team in NJ. The ideal candidate will be responsible for starting up, commissioning, and re-commissioning customer systems that utilize DDC technology. The role involves providing solutions to mid-level systems problems, working with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation, and delivering turnkey projects. The candidate will also complete all required commissioning documentation and paperwork on time, and ensure total system operation from controllers to sensors.
Responsibilities
- Start up, commission, and re-commission customer systems using DDC technology.
- Troubleshoot and provide solutions to mid-level systems problems, or assist others in resolving problems.
- Work with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper system operation.
- Deliver turnkey project delivery on small projects (80 or fewer budgeted hours).
- Work with unitary systems (VAV/FPB/FCU), small AHUs, basic CW/HW system, and front-end systems.
- Complete all required commissioning documentation and maintain accurate As-Built drawing packages.
- Complete paperwork on time, including time sheets, expense reports, work orders, on-site documentation, and project status reports.
- Ensure total system operation from controllers to sensors, load software, set up trends, alarms, and reports.
- Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters, network terminals, and laptops.
- Perform mid-level static (stand-alone) commissioning of software programming.
- Conduct site-specific training for owners/operators on the total system.
- Set up operator workstations with all associated software.
- Perform job database backups daily or as advised.
- Assist with project turnover to the Service Department.
- Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
- Track and record personal job progress and keep the Project Manager informed.
- Review customer systems and point out areas of improvement to the Project Manager.
- Maintain a daily log of pertinent job-related activities.
- Adhere to safety standards with a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
- Maintain computer and networking skills to properly manage laptops and mobile devices.
- Understand the operation and control of mechanical equipment and their control sequences.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate's Degree in building HVAC with a focus on building automation controls.
- Field experience in the installation and operation of Building Automation Controls.
- Ability to understand and navigate third-party control systems and integrations.
- Experience with Automated Logic and Phoenix software, including WebCtrl, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, LogicBuilder, InterOp 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, Supervision, and Accel Works.
- Experience handling multiple simultaneous challenges requiring knowledge of different disciplines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Possess computer and networking skills for maintaining laptops and mobile devices.
- Good understanding of the operation and control of mechanical equipment and their control sequences.
Work Environment
The territory for this position includes Northern NJ. They can go directly to the job site from their homes. Upon transitioning to full-time employment, candidates will receive a company car, EZ pass, and company credit card. The role requires the capability to climb ladders and lift items up to 50lbs. Work primarily along the 78 corridor in NJ, with projects in Princeton, Asbury Park, and Newark. Typical working hours are 7-3:30, with no on-call shifts but opportunities for overtime.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
