Job Description
The EHS Manager will be responsible for building out a comprehensive Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) and ensuring the safe use, storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous chemicals across the organization. This role involves evaluating existing processes to implement appropriate employee safeguards and controls to prevent harmful exposures. The Manager will also be responsible for verifying PPE usage and providing guidance on handling specific chemical safety situations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP).
- Evaluate existing safety processes and ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
- Provide chemical safety education to employees.
- Verify and enforce the use of PPE across the organization.
- Develop an organization-wide program for the oversight of hazardous chemicals.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and ACGIH regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to continuously improve safety protocols.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical safety, laboratory safety, or environmental health & safety in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Experience with hazardous chemicals.
- Thorough understanding of OSHA, EPA, and ACGIH regulations.
- 3 years of experience developing and managing a Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP).
- Chemistry lab experience (1 year).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- ACGIH membership or certification is a plus.
- Experience in industrial hygiene.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Motivated and driven to take ownership of safety processes.
- Patient and persistent in implementing changes.
Work Environment
You will be working out of the Windsor facility with the need to develop and implement safety plans for the secondary facility on Kinsman Blvd. The role requires a collaborative approach to bouncing ideas off team members and working in a regulatory environment. The organization values continuous improvement and seeks a motivated individual who can drive safety initiatives forward.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
Compensation package: health benefits, eligible first of month
HRA- $92/month and rest is picked up from company. No premiums outside of $15.
Dental: 100% coverage for anything outside of dentist. $2000/year. Preventative care is covered
Vision
Short term disability- automatically get 20 days
10-15 days of vacation on an accrual basis- can negotiate (looking at 3 weeks)
6 personal days a year- prorated basis based on when they start. Can receive after employed 60 days
8 paid holidays and 1 floating holiday
401K plan- first of month after hired and 6 months of employment. 100% vested after 6 months. 4.5% match. Profit sharing
3% bonus for all salaried employees
Holiday bonus- prorated how long with company ($1200 on average)
