Chemistry Lab Technician

Job Description

Support the R&D department which focuses on New Product Development (NPD), cost, quality, supply assurance, and operations support for Battery. Work within the R&D lab environment, testing new products such as chemicals and components. Perform tests on components and chemicals as per the test plan provided by R&D engineers, including GC/MS tests, calibration of GC instruments, and conducting analytical tests.

Responsibilities

• Perform tests on components and chemicals as per the test plan provided by R&D engineers.
• Conduct GC/MS tests and calibrate GC instruments.
• Conduct analytical tests following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Work with compressed air, nitrogen, and some aerosol products occasionally.
• Follow safety requirements and policies adequately.
• Conduct product quality checks by taking samples from production as per sampling plan provided by R&D technical staff.
• Ensure lab equipment and materials are organized.
• Assist with drafting of SOPs/JSAs.
• Perform data entry and update formulation information.

Essential Skills

• Experience working within a lab environment and running GC-MS.
• Complete understanding of GC-MS testing and instrument calibration.
• Proficiency in utilizing lab tools and equipment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Efficiently follow SOPs.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Critical thinking skills.
• Initiative and follow-through.
• Quick learner.
• Proficiency in using computers for data entry and preparing reports.
• Good communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or pursuing a 4-year degree in Chemistry or a related field.
• One to two years of college coursework in chemistry (or equivalent experience/education).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring hands, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
• Willingness to perform duties while using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
