Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Chemist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be involved in general wet chemistry lab testing, including pipetting, viscosity, pH, boiling point, and more. This role includes working with clear coats and spray paints, with all necessary PPE provided. You will receive training on various instruments such as automatic pipetting machines, Gas Chromatography, and IR spectrometers. This position is part of the overnight team, with duties involving both testing and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine jobs associated with the testing and approving of chemicals and blends.
- Conduct incoming, intermediate, and final chemical inspections of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods.
- Document test results, status, and chemical non-conformances.
- Maintain quality records and verify raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods against established specifications.
- Generate certificates of analysis and perform USP testing and documentation.
- Inspect USP containers and tankers when applicable.
- Gauge, sample, and document incoming ethanol shipments.
- Perform quality jobs as required for backup or peak loads.

- Ability to quickly learn and perform chemistry testing while maintaining quality.
- Capability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to set individual agendas after training.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with team members and supervisors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- BS/BA degree in Chemistry or other related science fields.
- Experience with wet chemistry from school or on the job.
- Knowledge of modern quality principles and industrial quality practices preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Typing, filing, and basic PC skills.
- Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office is a plus.
Work Environment
You will be working in a modern, temperature-controlled lab within a chemical manufacturing facility. This is a 2nd shift position, Monday-Thursday from 5 pm to 3:30 am, with no weekend shifts. Training will be provided on the 1st shift for 2-3 weeks. The 2nd shift team includes 2 supervisors, 1 other Chemist for the full shift, and 1-2 other members until 10:30 pm, making a total of 3-5 team members. The volume of work is similar to the first shift, with occasional slower nights but always something to do. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.75 - $21.75/hr.
