Job Title: Chief Engineer
Job Description
The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading and creating product designs for research and development programs, including the development of armor, blast attenuating seats, and other technologies for ground vehicles, aircraft, and infrastructure security needs. The role involves ensuring new products meet specified requirements, overseeing prototype build, qualification testing, and transitioning products to production. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will develop and review technical documents, support business development, and work autonomously to grow the department.
Responsibilities
- Manage and assist with the design and development of new technologies and products using SolidWorks.
- Develop and review technical documents such as design reviews, trade studies, and test plans/reports.
- Oversee the maintenance of legacy production products and standard operating procedures/processes.
- Assist with bid and proposal efforts.
- Ensure quality of work meets customer and regulatory requirements.
- Meet internal and external deadlines while maintaining budget.
Essential Skills

- GD&T expertise
- 10 years of experience in product design within military automotive or aerospace sectors
- 2 years of experience in designing seats, seating products, and/or interiors
- Management and leadership experience of up to 7 engineers
- 3 years of V&V testing to meet customer or regulatory requirements
- 5 years of expertise in using Excel for data manipulation and analysis
- Prototyping, testing validation, and proposal writing
- Knowledge of FMVSS and federal motor vehicle safety standards
- Requirements management and BOM generation
- Experience with SDRLS and CDRLS
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher
- US Citizenship required
- Strong work ethic, high attention to detail, excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Expert understanding of GD&T-ASME Y14.100 and ASME-Y14.5 drawing and tolerance standards for design for manufacturability
- Experience with DoD product development related to ground combat, marine, and aircraft platforms
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- 3 years of experience with composite systems, electronics integration, signature management, and seating systems
- Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher (preferred)
Work Environment
The work involves manufacturing, design, and testing conducted at the same location in Arizona
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
Standard package, vac/ PTO is negotiable. Medical dental optical provided.
Workplace Type
This is a fully onsite position in Chandler,AZ.
