A leading civil engineering and design firm, is seeking a talented Staff Geologist to join their team in Albany, NY!

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Staff Geologist to support a large railway project in Albany. The ideal candidate will participate in or lead field assignments including geotechnical construction observations, special inspections, and effectively communicate with contractors, clients, and team members. This position may require weekend and overtime work, as well as limited overnight and interstate travel.

Responsibilities

• Participate or lead field assignments for geotechnical construction observation.
• Perform construction observation and special inspections.
• Communicate effectively and efficiently with contractors, clients, and team members.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret geotechnical data.
• Prepare construction observation documents.

Essential Skills

• 1-2 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering or Geology (entry-level candidates with similar degrees such as Environmental Science or Civil Engineering will be considered).
• Experience with soil sampling, soil testing, and sample analysis.
• Familiarity with soils classification and preparation of construction observation documents.
• Proficiency in MS Office platforms (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Consistent means of transportation to/from project sites.
• Ability to pass a drug test.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or Geologist In Training (GIT) certification.
• Experience with AutoCAD.

Work Environment

The position involves working 12-hour shifts from 6am to 6pm, 14 consecutive days followed by 3 days off. This is a 6-month project. The work environment is dynamic, with a family feel in the office, and provides the opportunity to work on a high-profile project for a leading Architecture and Engineering firm with a national footprint.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
