Job Title: Clinical Research Nurse

Job Description

This part-time role involves working Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 12 Noon. The main responsibility of the Clinical Research Nurse is to screen and enroll patients in clinical trials. As a specialized research professional, the Clinical Research Nurse will work under the direction of the clinical Principal Investigator (PI) and assist with the execution of study-related activities for Phase I clinical research studies. This role focuses on the protection and care of research subjects, functioning as a licensed registered nurse engaged in the care and assessments of healthy volunteers and/or patients.

Responsibilities

• Review protocols and informed consent forms for scheduled studies, identifying and communicating potential issues to appropriate personnel.
• Participate in nursing study-related activities as required by protocol compliance with corporate, divisional, and departmental SOPs and external regulatory guidelines (CFR, ICH GCP).
• Ensure compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures.
• Evaluate adverse events and manage safety reporting activities in a timely manner.
• Interact with the Principal Investigator, study physicians, Recruiting/Screening, Data Systems, and other personnel to support study-specific activities.
• Support quality and compliance improvement initiatives as appropriate.
• Participate in recruitment and screening activities to ensure successful enrollment of volunteers into studies scheduled at the Phase 1 Unit.
• Interface with research participants to support eligibility determination and consenting according to protocol.
• Review and assess collected data.
• Serve as a resource person or consultant within the area of clinical expertise.
• Disburse investigational drugs and provide teaching regarding administration as necessary.
• Develop accurate source materials and ensure compliance from site staff.
• Ensure all protocol procedures are completed per study requirements.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Registered Nurse in Illinois
• 2 years of hands-on nursing experience in an outpatient clinic or similar environment
• Experience with informed consent processes
• Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines
• Experience in Phase I clinical research
• Strong regulatory and data management skills
• Patient recruitment experience

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Experience in clinical research
• Familiarity with informed consent procedures

Work Environment

The role requires working Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 12 Noon, for 20 hours a week. There may be occasional weekend work depending on study requirements

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
